Job summary

SHER ENGINEERING & CONSULTANCY Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a Power Systems Engineer to support grid connection projects across Peninsular Malaysia. You will perform power system studies and prepare utility-submission reports, collaborating with clients and utilities.

The role covers design reviews as Owner's Engineer, site visits, and lender due diligence. A strong engineering background, reporting skills in English, and willingness to travel are essential; BEM registration progress toward Ir.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering required.
• 3+ years' experience in power systems, solar PV, or grid connection.
• Registered with BEM at Graduate Engineer level; progress toward Ir. valued.
• Proficiency with power system simulation tools (DIgSILENT, PSS/E or ETAP).
• Knowledge of Malaysian utility standards is a plus.
• Experience in consultancy/EPC/developer/utility backgrounds preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
• Prepare study reports for utility submissions (CAS, ATAP, NEMAS, PSS).
• Perform Owner's Engineer design reviews of EPCC deliverables such as SLDs and protection settings.
• Conduct Independent Engineer work including site verification and lender due diligence.
• Produce structured review comments, technical reports, and client communications.
• Carry out site visits for inspection, commissioning, and power quality monitoring.

Power Systems Engineer with Key Responsibilities including;

Conduct power system studies — load flow, short circuit, reactive power, transient stability, harmonics and power quality analysis.

Prepare study reports for utility submission (CAS, ATAP, NEMAS, PSS).

Perform Owner's Engineer design reviews of EPCC deliverables: SLDs, protection settings, cable sizing and derating, earthing, plant layouts.

Conduct Independent Engineer work — site progress verification, milestone payment certification, and lender technical due diligence.

Produce structured review comment sheets, technical reports, and correspondence with clients and utilities.

Conduct site visits for inspection, commissioning witnessing, and power quality monitoring.

About you

Degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

3+ years' relevant experience in power systems, solar PV, or grid connection work — consultancy, EPC, developer, or utility background.

Registered with BEM (Graduate Engineer minimum); progress toward Ir. is valued and supported.

Working knowledge of at least one power system simulation tool — DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, or ETAP.

Familiarity with Malaysian utility requirements (TNB Technical Guidebook, Grid Code, Distribution Code, ST requirements) is a strong advantage.

Exposure to PVsyst, Helioscope, or AutoCAD useful for design verification.

Strong technical report writing in English.

Willing to travel for site work.
