Job summary

Aesen Group in Malaysia seeks an experienced shipboard Electrical & Automation Technician to perform maintenance, diagnose faults, and support safe workshop operations in Miri.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical and automation troubleshooting on shipboard systems, with hands-on Cummins and Caterpillar engine experience and ET Laptop proficiency. Strong teamwork, clear communication, and safety discipline are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience with Cummins and Caterpillar engines.
• At least 5 years in electrical and automation troubleshooting on shipboard systems (DEIF, Terasaki, AVR, etc.).
• Proven ability to diagnose faults with ET Laptop and basic testing tools.
• Strong leadership, planning, and resource management skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on electrical and automation systems, incl. troubleshooting and timely issue resolution.
• Diagnose electrical and automation problems using testing devices (ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters).
• Collaborate with supervisors on scheduling and planning activities.
• Allocate materials, tools, and equipment for workshop activities.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct training and inspections for a safe environment.
• Monitor processes to ensure high-quality outcomes and address issues.
• Maintain clear communication with team, management and other departments.
• Address and resolve operational issues with critical thinking and resourcefulness.

• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on electrical and automation systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Diagnose electrical and automation problems by using testing devices, such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters, to identify faults.

• Leadership and Oversight: Collaborate with direct supervisors on scheduling and planning activities.

• Resource Management: Allocate materials, tools, and equipment efficiently, ensuring all resources are available for workshop activities.

• Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety training and inspections to maintain a safe working environment. Proper housekeeping of special tools and workshop environment to be clean and free from hazard

• Quality Control: Monitor work processes and outcomes to ensure adherence to high-quality standards, promptly addressing any issues.

• Communication: Maintain clear and open communication with team members, management, and other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration.

• Problem Solving: Address and resolve operational issues efficiently, utilizing critical thinking and resourcefulness.

• At least 3 years of combined experience with Cummins and Caterpillar engines, including proficiency in diagnostic tools like ET Laptop; certification from Cummins and Caterpillar is a plus.

• At least 5 years of electrical and automation troubleshooting experiences in all other shipboard system with relation to DEIF, Terasaki, and other power management system for example, alternator, AVR etc.
