Job summary

Kerry, the world’s leading taste and nutrition company, is seeking an EHS Officer for its Penang site. The role ensures compliance with OSHA 2022 and Kerry standards, supports warehouse operations, and drives environmental, health, and safety initiatives across the site.

You will develop and enforce EHS programs, conduct risk assessments, train staff, and report on KPIs to maintain a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace. 8.30am–5.30pm, Penang location.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety, Chemistry, or equivalent.
• DOSH registration as a competent Safety Coordinator or Safety & Health Officer.
• Knowledge of OSHA 2022 (Amendment) Act.
• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 knowledge preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a multinational manufacturing setting.
• Strong organizational and technical skills; good communicator.

• Assist EHS Committee with daily and monthly activities and inspections.

About The Role

The EHS Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, Kerry standards, and customer requirements. The role supports warehouse operations through hazard identification, risk assessment, audit management, incident prevention, safety training, compliance monitoring, and the implementation of EHS programs to maintain a safe and sustainable workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Recognize and control occupational hazards and environmental impacts, while interfacing with employees and management. Rectify EHS issues on a day-to-day basis, attend daily operational meetings, and take immediate action on EHS issues.
• Support and guide the EHS Committee in its daily and monthly activities and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with relevant authorities by developing and implementing EHS programs, policies, and management systems.
• Ensure HE/HP (KIRMS), RSA findings, and ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 findings are rectified, closed, and effective.
• Guide and promote safe work practices and act as an internal reference by providing necessary training programs to increase safety awareness and knowledge among all employees.
• Ensure all EHS programs are implemented accordingly.
• Ensure Storage & Racking standards are compliant and that system effectiveness is audited annually. This includes a formal inspection by a technically competent person.
• Communicate EHS information to the organization as appropriate. Conduct safety induction training for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Evaluate and control workplace hazards by conducting risk assessments and environmental impact assessments.
• Report on monthly EHS KPIs, EHS monitoring, waste management, and Carbon Footprint.
• Ensure the maintenance of all safety equipment is kept up to date, including fire protection systems, emergency equipment, etc.
• Interpret standards, advise management on required actions, and enforce adherence to regulations, including OSHA 2022 (Amendment) and Kerry corporate standards (KIRMS Standard - HE/HPA).
• Execute the annual EHS Action Plan and evaluate its effectiveness.
• Coordinate EHS Committee meetings and activities as required by OSHA 2022.
• Liaise with relevant departments and related government bodies on EHS matters.
• Liaise with on-site contractors.
• Propose internal EHS purchases.

Qualifications And Skills

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety, Chemistry, or equivalent.
• Registered with DOSH as a competent Safety Coordinator or Safety & Health Officer.
• In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) 2022 (Amendment) Act.
• Preferably with knowledge & experience of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Possess proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in EHS within a multinational manufacturing industry.
• Possess strong organizational and technical skills, with a genuine passion for the work and the drive to get the job done.
• Experience with compliance audits and safety management systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively convey ideas and concepts and deliver formal presentations.
