Job summary

ERM is seeking an EHS focal point for a Kuala Lumpur site to coordinate daily with the client, EPCC contractor, subcontractors and site teams. The role ensures compliance with Malaysian EHS legislation, permits and project plans, while conducting inspections and audits across construction areas and environmental controls.

The successful candidate will verify permit-to-work and risk assessments, review contractor records, and manage incident reporting and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Must have site-based EHS experience on construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with permit-to-work systems and risk assessments.
• Ability to review contractor submittals and records for compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian environmental and occupational safety legislation.
• Valid competency certification or registration relevant to EHS scope.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site EHS focal point, coordinating daily with client, EPCC contractor, subcontractors and site teams.
• Monitor compliance with Malaysian EHS legislation, project approvals, permit conditions and EHS plans.
• Conduct routine inspections, joint walkthroughs and audits across construction areas and facilities.
• Verify implementation of permit-to-work, risk assessments, toolbox talks and incident reporting.
• Review contractor submissions and records for compliance and quality.
• Monitor high-risk activities and environmental controls; escalate issues to client management.
