Job summary

Hospital Picaso, a unit within PJ Integrated Centre of Advanced Surgery and Oncology, seeks a Duty Nurse Administrator to lead Nursing Administration and oversee hospital operations.

The candidate will supervise nursing staff, coordinate patient care, and serve as a key decision-maker during off-duty hours, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Nursing is required.
• 10 years of nursing experience; preferably 5–8 years in management.
• Valid APC with Malaysia Nursing Board.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the functioning of the hospital ensuring all units are operational and procedures are followed.
• Act as primary decision-maker during off-duty hours for administrative or clinical issues.
• Assess department needs and allocate resources to maintain efficiency and meet patient care demands.
• Maintain leadership presence through rounds and supervise nursing staff and on-duty personnel.
• Monitor performance and ensure adherence to hospital policies and standards of care.
• Review and monitor patient care activities for adherence to guidelines and best practices.
• Conduct spot checks/audits of records and nursing practices for quality and consistency.
• Provide updates to hospital management on events and challenges; deliver shift handover reports.

Job description

Duty Nurse Administrator, Nursing Administration

a) Oversee the functioning of the entire hospital, ensuring all units are operational and adhering to standard procedures.

b) Serve as the primary decision-maker for any administrative or clinical issues that arise during off-duty hours, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.

c) Assess the needs of each department and allocate resources, such as staffing and supplies, to maintain operational efficiency and meet patient care demands.

B. Staff Supervision and Support

a) Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the hospital by conducting regular rounds and being accessible to all on-duty personnel.

b) Monitor the performance of nursing staff and other on-duty personnel continuously, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.

C. Patient Care Coordination

a) Review and monitor patient care activities regularly to ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, hospital policies, and best practices

b) Conduct spot checks and audits of patient records, treatment plans, and nursing practices to ensure quality and consistency in patient care.

D. Communication and Reporting

a) Update hospital management on significant events, patient care issues, and operational challenges, providing a clear overview of the current situation.

b) Prepare and deliver detailed shift handover reports to the incoming Duty Nurse Administrator, ensuring continuity of care and operations.

Job Requirement

Diploma / Degree in Nursing

10 years experience in nursing / preferred at least 5 - 8 years experience in management level

Valid APC in Malaysia Nursing Board

Current BLS certification
