KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital seeks a dedicated ambulance driver to transport patients with care and safety as top priorities. You will drive, log trips, and assist with transfers between home, accident sites, and hospital areas.
The role requires a valid driving license, ambulance experience, and willingness to work varied shifts, including emergencies. You will support nursing staff and uphold infection control and safety policies.
Responsible for driving the ambulance to transport the sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination using knowledge and skill in driving to avoid sudden motions detrimental to patients. Maintains the ambulance in good condition with scheduled inspections and checks. Possess the attitude to make the patient care the primary concern.
Understands and carries out the duties and responsibilities in line with Vision and Mission Statements, Goals and Objectives that suit the scope of the hospital service.
Works shift duties or as assigned by Unit Manager according to Unit’s Operational Hours.
Informs Unit Manager when change occurs in circumstances which affect standards of care.
Attends and participates in unit meetings, dialogue sessions and hospital’s activities.
Drives all company vehicles with care and courtesy upon instructions/ authorization by the head of services.
Attends to ambulance calls as required and to keep record of ambulance log book.
Assists with lifting of patients and transfers of patients from A&E service to specific wards or hospital.
Assists nursing staff in handling restless, confused and aggressive patients.
Stands by for call duty during off duty to run errands such as getting blood and blood products from the blood bank.
Ensures First Aid box are well kept.
Fetches patient from home or accident site in an emergency or when instructed.
Responsible for the safety of the patient during travelling.
Inspects vehicle and check gas, oil and water before departure.
Ensures that the wheel chairs and trolleys are available in front of the service to be used at all time.
Be a dispatching personnel whenever is needed.
Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances.
Keeps vehicle clean and in an orderly condition and makes minor repairs and adjustments.
Checks oil pressure and level, gasoline, water in battery and radiator, and tire pressure to insure that these conditions are satisfactory for immediate and continued use of the vehicle.
Checks that there are sufficient oxygen cylinders for use in the unit and record accordingly.
Provides assistance to clients who present themselves at the A&E services.
Be courteous and caring during receiving and helping patient into the ambulance from the house to the hospital or vice versa.
Takes personal responsibility for own development and keeps up to date with change and growth by maintaining mandatory learning hours.
Attends in services programs and strive to contribute towards own growth and development.
Participates in the orientation of new members of staff to the ward routines.
Participates actively in any other new service that is introduced.
Maintains the record of personal leave and training attended.
Adheres to the assigned duty roster by Unit Manager/ charge Nurse.
Responsible for the smooth running of the ambulance service. Stay current with driver safety and first aid practices.
Drivers periodically take classes to keep their driving and first aid skills up to date.
Adheres to the hospital policies and procedure and nursing code of conduct.
Maintain confidentiality of patient’s personal and medical history.
Ensure adhere with Prevention and Control of Infection.
Report facts concerning accidents or emergencies to hospital personnel or law enforcement officials.
Comply with local traffic regulations.
Ensures ambulance vehicle is undergoing regular service schedule and in good condition.
Checks regularly that all equipment in the ambulance is in good condition and report to UM for necessary action accordingly when faulty.
Updates the mileage of all company vehicles via vehicle log book.
Daily check and ensure that vehicles are properly cleaned and ready to be used at all time.
Record and keep ambulance log book up to date.
The medical gas and medical equipment must be checked daily and are in good condition.
Fully receptive and supportive in the activities that contribute towards continuous improvement of nursing service e.g. Quality Assurance, Infection Control and Fire and Safety Program.
Participates in investigation and root cause analysis in any incident in the services, takes appropriate action and ensure completion of incident reports within stipulated time frame.

Complies with the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Breastfeeding Policy, and protect, promote and support Baby Friendly Hospital activities.
Ensure that ambulance is service at the correct time.
Participates in 5S activities and comply with the specified requirements Ensures all staff adheres to Standard People Practice (SPP) at all times.
Ensure all policies and regulations of ISO 37001 Anti Bribery Management Systems (ABMS) are adhered to and responsible for integrity principles, practices and activities at hospitals & companies of and when these programs are implemented.
SPM.
Valid Driving license ( D & GDL).
Driving experience, especially of the ambulance.
Familiar with the local road and area.
On the job training/in-service training will be provided.
Caring, honest, a good team member and responsible worker.
Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shift, and weekends, public holidays and anytime when called during emergency.
Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to perform as a team member in nursing services in delivering the ambulance service.
