Job summary

BP plc is seeking a Policy & Governance professional to develop and maintain procurement policies, ensuring governance standards are applied across bp. You will embed policy requirements, support governance reporting, and drive continuous improvement in risk management and compliance.

You will collaborate with procurement teams, ethics, legal, finance, and risk partners to address gaps, enhance policy clarity, and maintain strong governance across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Educated in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Law, or equivalent proven experience.
  • Foundational understanding of procurement processes (e.g., sourcing, contracting, supplier management).
  • Awareness of policy and governance frameworks and their role in handling risk and compliance.
  • Experience supporting policy, governance, risk, or control-related activities.
  • Familiarity with assurance activities (e.g., audits, self-verification) is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret policies and translate them into clear, practical guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support insights.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in governance and policy documentation.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work efficiently across teams and functions, good teamwork.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to handle priorities and deliver quality outputs in a structured environment.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability for high-quality delivery of assigned work.

Job Description: This role supports the development, maintenance, and implementation of procurement policies and governance frameworks across bp. You will help ensure policies are clear, practical, and consistently applied, while supporting governance processes that strengthen compliance and risk management.


Working as part of the Policy & Governance team, you will contribute to embedding policy requirements across procurement and the wider business, helping drive consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement.


Role will report into Sr. Discipline Manager, Policy.


What will you deliver


  • Support the development and maintenance of procurement policies, procedures, and governance standards

  • Assist in embedding policy requirements by providing clear guidance and responding to collaborator queries

  • Contribute to governance and monitoring activities, including policy conformance and control efficiency reviews

  • Support the preparation of governance reporting and analysis to highlight risks, trends, and areas requiring action

  • Work with procurement teams and partners to help address gaps and improve adherence to policy requirements

  • Support assurance activities (e.g., self-verification, audits) and supervise remediation actions

  • Contribute to governance forums through input and analysis on compliance and risk matters

You will work closely with


  • Procurement teams (Category Management, Sourcing & Contracting, Supplier Management)

  • Business partners across functions and assets

  • Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Finance, and Risk teams

  • Digital teams supporting procurement systems and data

  • Internal Audit and assurance teams


Education & Professional Qualifications

Educated in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Law, or equivalent proven experience.


Foundational understanding of procurement processes (e.g., sourcing, contracting, supplier management).


Awareness of policy and governance frameworks and their role in handling risk and compliance.


Experience supporting policy, governance, risk, or control-related activities.


Familiarity with assurance activities (e.g., audits, self-verification) is beneficial.


Ability to interpret policies and translate them into clear, practical guidance.


Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support insights.

The Policy & Governance team sits within Procurement Safety, Risk & Compliance and supports the governance framework underpinning procurement across bp.
