Job summary

Private Advertiser in Simpang Ampat, Penang, seeks an experienced Director, Supply Chain Management to lead procurement, inventory, logistics and supplier relationships at a strategic level.

You will report to senior management and guide a team, with a track record in cost reductions, ERP systems, and Lean/Six Sigma; manufacturing/pharma exposure is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management with at least 5 years in senior leadership or director roles.
• Proven procurement and vendor management experience with cost reductions and supplier performance improvements.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, demand forecasting, and optimization techniques.
• Experience in manufacturing/pharma is desirable.
• Experience with SCM software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards (GxP advantageous).
• Project management experience and familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma would strengthen candidacy.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Director, Supply Chain Management to join us in Simpang Ampat, Penang. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to lead and shape our supply chain operations at a strategic level. As Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain management, from procurement and inventory control to logistics and supplier relationships. This role is pivotal to ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and the seamless delivery of our contract development and manufacturing services. You will report to senior management and have a direct impact on the company's ability to meet customer commitments and drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with company objectives and market demands
• Oversee procurement operations, including vendor selection, negotiation of contracts, and management of supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
• Manage inventory levels across all operations, optimizing stock holdings whilst minimizing carrying costs and waste
• Lead logistics and distribution functions to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials and finished products
• Monitor and analyze supply chain performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, quality standards, and company policies within the supply chain function
• Direct and mentor supply chain team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
• Collaborate with operations, quality, and finance departments to align supply chain activities with broader business goals
• Manage supply chain budgets and control expenditure to achieve financial targets
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role
• Proven expertise in procurement and vendor management, with a track record of achieving cost reductions and improving supplier performance
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization techniques
• Experience in the manufacturing, pharmaceuticals sector is highly desirable
• Demonstrated proficiency with supply chain management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop teams effectively
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, such as GxP compliance, is advantageous
• Project management experience and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) would strengthen your candidacy
