Job summary

Air Liquide Business Services SDN BHD (ALBS) Kuala Lumpur seeks a Director, GBS Treasury (APAC & AMEI). You will set treasury strategy, oversee cash management, funding, FX and reporting, and partner with CoE, Hub Treasury and business units to optimize liquidity and minimize risk.

You will drive digital transformation, transition processes to GBS, champion automation and governance, and lead a 25-person team across APAC and GCCI to sustain high performance and compliance.

• 12+ years of progressive treasury experience in a multinational.

The Director, GBS Treasury (APAC & AMEI) will provide overall strategic direction, operational leadership, and high-performance management for the GBS Treasury operations across the APAC region and the AMEI region through our Global Capability Center. This role is responsible for directing all cash management, short-term funding and investments, foreign exchange (FX), interest rate management, banking relationships, and treasury accounting operations. Working closely with the Corporate Treasury Center of Excellence (CoE), Hub Treasury, and local business units, the Director will champion digital transformation, continuous improvement, system implementations, and strict internal controls to optimize liquidity, reduce operational risk, and support the organization’s strategic growth.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Mandate & Strategic Pillars:

1. Architecting Regional Strategy & Liquidity

• Architect Strategic Alignment: Implement and drive the Treasury vision and strategy for APAC and GCCI, ensuring strict alignment with Global Treasury, Hub Treasury, and GBS objectives.
• Optimize Capital Allocation (Liquidity & Cash Management): Oversee regional cash concentration, daily/weekly/monthly cash flow forecasting, cash pooling, short-term investments, and intercompany financing to ensure adequate working capital.
• Mitigate Financial Risk: Manage FX exposure and interest rate instruments in conjunction with the Corporate Finance CoE; build and maintain robust FX and hedging operational workflows.
• Spearhead Regional Expansion & Onboarding: Lead and support the establishment of new legal entities, banking structures, and regional business expansions.
• Drive Banking & Payment Innovation: Oversee bank account management and banking relationships. Drive the implementation of modern payment technologies (e.g., ACH debit, electronic wallets, fast payments, corporate cards) and new bank technologies to simplify operations.

2. Operational Excellence, Governance & Audit

• Govern Treasury Accounting & Closing: Supervise daily cash operations, bank reconciliations, payment validations/approvals, and month/quarter/year-end closing and financial reporting.
• Enforce SLA & KPI Management: Define, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) against Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Lead periodic service review meetings with key stakeholders.
• Institutionalize Controls, Audit & Fraud Prevention: Ensure strict compliance with the Internal Control Framework, company policies, tax/legal regulations, and safety/quality standards. Act as a thought leader in maintaining a fraud-free environment, while coordinating internal/external audit processes.
• Orchestrate Cross-Functional Synergy: Serve as the key liaison between GBS Treasury and internal partners across AR, AP, R2R, Legal, Tax, IT, Business Units, and Executive Leadership.

3. Driving Digital Transformation & Innovation

• Drive Transition Management: Oversee the smooth transition of treasury processes, tools, and resource allocation from local in-country teams into the GBS center.
• Champion Digitalization & Automation: Champion automation, process mining, Data & Analytics adoption, and Treasury Management System (TMS)/ERP enhancements in partnership with IT and Business Systems teams.
• Process Standardization: Apply continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies to standardize workflows across process towers and regions, driving efficiency and quality.

4. Cultivating a High-Performance Culture

• Cultivate People & Mentorship: Direct, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of 25 professionals (managers, supervisors, and analysts) across APAC and GCCI.
• Optimize Resource Planning: Optimize organizational structure and resource allocation to handle activity fluctuations, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet quality standards.
• Elevate Talent Development: Conduct regular performance reviews, establish clear career cultivation paths, execute staff rotation initiatives, and foster an open, peer-feedback culture.

The Executive Profile & Qualifications

• Treasury Mastery: 12+ years of progressive experience in treasury, cash management, and financial operations within a multinational corporation.
• Regional GBS Leadership: 5–6+ years of direct managerial experience leading multi-country treasury teams within a large-scale Shared Services Center (SSC/GBS) or capability center environment in the APAC region.
• Transformation Execution: Proven success in leading continuous improvement initiatives, system implementations (TMS/ERP), and migration/transition projects.

Technical Knowledge & Core Competencies

• Subject Matter Mastery: Deep hands-on knowledge of cash concentration, liquidity structures, cash pooling, hedging (FX/Interest Rates), and advanced treasury tools.
• Digital & Systems Acumen: Strong familiarity with Treasury Management Systems (TMS), ERPs, financial modeling, and modern automation tools (RPA, process mining, data analytics).
• Financial & Regulatory Standards: Solid understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, and local tax/legal frameworks across APAC countries.
• Leadership & Team Building: Authentic team builder skilled at talent development, resource optimization, and driving engagement across diverse and matrixed teams.
• Strategic Communication: Ability to communicate complex treasury concepts, present to executive stakeholders, and build cross-functional networks.

Credentials:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required. MBA or MS in Finance/Economics preferred.
• Certifications: Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Cash Manager (CCM)
