Job summary

Frencken IMS in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Mould Design Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will design and optimize 2D and 3D moulds for injection moulding, using Unigraphics, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

You will run DFM and Moldflow simulations, refine cooling and gating, and work with customers, suppliers and tooling vendors to ensure manufacturability and quality. A diploma/degree in mechanical engineering and 2–5 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of mould design experience, preferably injection moulding.
• Proficient in CAD software: Unigraphics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of mould flow simulation software is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of plastic materials, cooling systems, and gating techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop 2D & 3D mould layouts and drawings using CAD software (Unigraphics).
• Create DFM and Moldflow simulations to meet customer requirements.
• Design cooling systems and gating for optimal mould performance.
• Perform feasibility studies and design analysis to optimize part quality.
• Collaborate with engineering and tooling teams for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Support DFMEA with lessons learned for new projects.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers and tooling vendors for mould fabrication and validation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and quality guidelines.

1. Design and develop 2D & 3D mould layouts and drawings using CAD software (Unigraphics)
2. Create DFM and Moldflow simulations for new tools and RFQ's inorder to meet customer requirements
3. Design with proper cooling systems, and gating designs for optimal mould performance.
4. Perform feasibility studies and design analysis to optimize part quality and minimize defects.
5. Collaborate with engineering and Tooling team to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
6. Implement the lesson learn for the new projects DFMEA.
7. Work closely with customers, suppliers and tooling vendors for mould fabrication and validation.
8. Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality control guidelines.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in mould design, preferably in injection moulding.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Unigraphics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of mould flow simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, Moldex3D) is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of plastic material properties, cooling systems, and gating techniques.
