Job summary

Tunas Asal Sdn Bhd is seeking a Design Engineer to design pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks in Nilai. You will prepare calculations, drawings, and documentation, coordinating with production, quality, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.

The role requires strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, PVElite) and knowledge of vessel design codes. On-site work in Nilai is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design skills with CAD proficiency in AutoCAD and PVElite.
• Familiar with ASME and API vessel design codes and standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, process diagrams, and fabrication drawings.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Design pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks according to codes and client specs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with production, quality and project teams to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Review client requirements, support proposals, and resolve design issues during fabrication and installation.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Role Description

The Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Nilai. This role involves designing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and related equipment according to industry codes, client specifications, and safety standards. The Design Engineer will prepare engineering calculations, detailed drawings, and technical documentation, and will collaborate with production, quality, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Daily tasks include reviewing client requirements, supporting project proposals, resolving design issues during fabrication and installation, and participating in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design skills, including proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVElite) and preparation of detailed engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel and equipment design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API) and experience with engineering calculations and design validation.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, process diagrams, and fabrication drawings, and to coordinate effectively with manufacturing and site teams.
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on safety, quality, and reliability.
• Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical or equivalent) and prior experience in industrial equipment, oil and gas, or related industries is an advantage.
• Effective communication skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and willingness to be based on-site in Nilai.
