Smile Up Dental Clinic Puchong is seeking a dedicated Dental Surgery Assistant to join our Bandar Puteri Puchong location. This full-time role supports dental practitioners, maintains a sterile surgical suite, and ensures smooth clinical operations with patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will assist surgeons, prepare sterilised instruments, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards in a fast-paced dental environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a dental clinical setting, ideally surgical or general practice.
• Strong knowledge of dental instruments and sterilisation protocols.
• Excellent infection control and health & safety understanding.

Responsibilities

• Assist dental surgeons by passing instruments and supporting clinical work.
• Prepare and sterilise instruments and equipment per infection control protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organised surgical environment and restock materials as needed.
• Provide chairside support, aid patient comfort, and explain procedures.
• Document patient information and maintain clinical records as directed.
• Prepare patients for procedures and obtain informed consent where appropriate.
• Manage instrument trays and restock throughout the day.
• Follow PPE and universal precautions to ensure safety and hygiene.
• Contribute to a calm, professional, hygienic clinical environment.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Surgery Assistant to join our team at our Bandar Puteri Puchong location. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our dental practitioners and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suite. As a Dental Surgery Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the efficiency of our clinical operations. You will work directly with our dental surgeons and team members to deliver high-quality oral healthcare services whilst maintaining the highest standards of sterilisation, safety and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Assist dental surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining visibility of the surgical area and supporting the dentist's clinical work
• Prepare and sterilise dental instruments and equipment according to established infection control protocols and regulatory standards
• Maintain the surgical environment by ensuring all work surfaces are clean, organised and stocked with necessary materials
• Provide chairside support to patients, including patient positioning, comfort management and communication of procedural steps
• Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed clinical records as directed by the dental surgeon
• Prepare patients for dental procedures, including explaining procedures and obtaining informed consent where appropriate
• Manage instrument trays, ensuring proper organisation and restocking throughout the day
• Follow strict health and safety protocols, including universal precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance
• Contribute to maintaining a calm, professional and hygienic clinical environment

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in a dental clinical setting, ideally in a surgical or general dental practice
• Strong knowledge of dental instruments, equipment and sterilisation protocols
• Excellent understanding of infection control practices and health and safety regulations in dental healthcare
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a clinical team
• Compassion and patience when interacting with patients, including anxious or paediatric patients
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterityFlexibility and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality and professional conduct
• Familiarity with dental practice management software is advantageous
