About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Surgery Assistant to join our team at our Bandar Puteri Puchong location. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our dental practitioners and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suite. As a Dental Surgery Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the efficiency of our clinical operations. You will work directly with our dental surgeons and team members to deliver high-quality oral healthcare services whilst maintaining the highest standards of sterilisation, safety and professionalism.
Key responsibilities
- Assist dental surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining visibility of the surgical area and supporting the dentist's clinical work
- Prepare and sterilise dental instruments and equipment according to established infection control protocols and regulatory standards
- Maintain the surgical environment by ensuring all work surfaces are clean, organised and stocked with necessary materials
- Provide chairside support to patients, including patient positioning, comfort management and communication of procedural steps
- Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed clinical records as directed by the dental surgeon
- Prepare patients for dental procedures, including explaining procedures and obtaining informed consent where appropriate
- Manage instrument trays, ensuring proper organisation and restocking throughout the day
- Follow strict health and safety protocols, including universal precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance
- Contribute to maintaining a calm, professional and hygienic clinical environment
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working in a dental clinical setting, ideally in a surgical or general dental practice
- Strong knowledge of dental instruments, equipment and sterilisation protocols
- Excellent understanding of infection control practices and health and safety regulations in dental healthcare
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a clinical team
- Compassion and patience when interacting with patients, including anxious or paediatric patients
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterityFlexibility and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality and professional conduct
- Familiarity with dental practice management software is advantageous
