Job summary

Royal Bank of Canada in Malaysia is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Operational Data, Information, and AI team. You will design, implement, and optimize cloud data Lakehouse architectures using Snowflake, dbt, and AWS to support BI, ML, and AI initiatives.

You'll build scalable ELT pipelines with Python, SQL, Spark, and Airflow, ensure data quality and governance, and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product owners to deliver enterprise data products.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark).
• Advanced SQL skills with performance optimization and indexing.
• Proficient Python for data pipelines, automation, and scripting.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift).
• Snowflake data warehousing, virtual warehouses, clustering, security.
• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, or Luigi for orchestration.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark.
• Build batch and real-time data ingestion frameworks with Snowflake and AWS services.
• Collaborate with data product owners to develop analytical, AI/ML, and GenAI data products.
• Write complex SQL for data modeling and performance optimization across Snowflake and RDBMS.
• Develop streaming data solutions using Kafka, Kinesis, or similar tools.
• Implement data validation, quality checks, and governance practices.
