Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a data engineer to own end-to-end data architecture from ingestion to governance. You will design efficient data models, automate workflows, and promote reproducible data practices in a startup-like environment.

You will refactor Python/Jupyter pipelines, implement data quality checks, and collaborate with analysts to translate reporting needs into scalable data solutions. Experience with ETL/ELT, SQL, and cloud readiness is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python (pandas, PySpark) for data processing and scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for automated data ingestion, transformation, and validation.
• Establish a centralized data storage system, starting small and scaling to cloud-based infrastructure.
• Collaborate with analysts to translate reporting needs into scalable, reusable data models.
• Implement data quality checks, logging, and monitoring to ensure reliability of data flows.
• Refactor Python/Jupyter workflows into production-ready codebases.
• Evaluate and recommend tools for data warehousing, orchestration, and cloud migration.
• Define and promote best practices in version control, documentation, and reproducibility.
