Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer to build, maintain, and optimise scalable data pipelines that support enterprise data, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise scalable data pipelines.
- Build and support ETL/ELT workflows from multiple data sources.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality across pipelines and datasets.
- Work with cloud-based data services, particularly within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
- Develop and schedule workflows using Apache Airflow.
- Support containerised deployments and orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Maintain source code and version control using GitLab or GitHub.
- Write, optimise, and troubleshoot SQL queries.
- Collaborate with Product, Business, and Analytics stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
- Support data migration, data warehousing, and transformation initiatives.
- Assist with API development and CI/CD pipeline activities where required.
- Maintain technical documentation, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
Must-have
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in IT, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands‑on experience in Data Engineering.
- Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong experience in ETL/ELT development.
- Good programming skills in Python.
- Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Exposure to Kubernetes.
- Experience using GitLab and/or GitHub for source code management.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL.
- Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
- Good understanding of data quality, data integrity, and data transformation processes.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies.
- Exposure to NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of distributed computing principles.
- Working knowledge of G Suite, Jira, and Confluence.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Openness to learning new technologies and modern engineering practices.
- Exposure to data migration, data warehousing, API development, and CI/CD pipelines.
