Job summary

Hirix is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines powering ERP and procurement platforms. You will integrate SAP and GEP SMART data, ensuring quality, availability, and performance at scale.

You’ll work with SAP modules and cloud data platforms, contributing to procurement intelligence and operational efficiency across the business. Kuala Lumpur hybrid base plus learning budget and annual bonus offered.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering in an enterprise ERP environment (SAP preferred).
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python or PySpark for data transformation and pipeline development.
• Experience integrating with SAP modules via APIs, IDocs, BAPIs, or SAP Data Services.
• Familiarity with GEP SMART or comparable procurement platforms and their data structures.
• Experience with cloud data platforms or data warehousing solutions such as Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Working knowledge of data governance, master data management, and data quality frameworks in an enterprise context.
• Ability to read ER diagrams and functional specs to deliver accurate data mappings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with rigorous data validation and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data between SAP, GEP SMART, and downstream analytical systems.
• Integrate enterprise ERP datasets with procurement platforms, ensuring data consistency, lineage, and governance.
• Build and optimise data models that support procurement reporting, spend analytics, and operational KPIs.
• Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into reliable engineering solutions.
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot data quality issues, and implement automated alerting and remediation workflows.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and integration specifications.
• Support data migration initiatives during ERP upgrades or procurement platform rollouts, including data mapping, cleansing, and validation.

This role is central to driving procurement intelligence and operational efficiency across the business.

What we're looking for

• Experience with cloud data platforms or data warehousing solutions such as Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake
• Working knowledge of data governance principles, master data management, and data quality frameworks in an enterprise context
• Ability to read and interpret entity-relationship diagrams and functional specifications to deliver accurate data mappings
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a rigorous approach to data validation and testing
