Job summary

Businesslist in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a seasoned Lead Electrical/Mechanical Data Center Engineer to drive pre‑sales, bidding, proposal development and project implementation of mission‑critical data center solutions.

You will translate customer requirements into scalable designs, deliver technical presentations, oversee end‑to‑end facility designs (electrical, HVAC, fire protection, civil works), conduct load calculations, risk assessments, and guide teams across stakeholders from initial

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in data center integration, facility design, or turnkey projects.
• Knowledge of data center design principles, bidding, project management, and integration testing.
• Experience with large-scale data centers (>1MW) is advantageous.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and related tools.
• Familiar with Tier Certification of Constructed Facility.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical lead throughout pre‑sales, bidding, proposal development, and project implementation phases.
• Engage with customers to understand requirements, provide industry insights, and recommend datacenter solutions.
• Deliver technical presentations, solution demonstrations, and project discussions with stakeholders.
• Develop end‑to‑end datacenter facility designs covering electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and civil works.
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, technology selection, budgeting, and technical drawings.
• Collaborate with subcontractors to define scopes of work and review shop drawings.
• Conduct risk assessments, project costing, and manpower planning analysis.
• Ensure compliance with standards (TIA‑942, BICSI, IEC 61439, IEEE 493, BS 7671).
• Evaluate critical infrastructure equipment (generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, etc.).
• Support system integration testing, commissioning activities, and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical presentations, solution demonstrations, and project discussions with stakeholders and customers.
• Develop end‑to‑end datacenter facility designs covering:
  • Electrical systems
  • HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
  • Fire protection systems
  • Civil and structural works
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, technology selection, budgeting, and preparation of technical drawings.
• Collaborate with subcontractors to define scopes of work and review shop drawings.
• Conduct technical risk assessments, project costing, and manpower planning analysis.
• Ensure solutions comply with industry best practices and standards, including TIA‑942, BICSI, IEC 61439, IEEE 493, and BS 7671.
• Evaluate and recommend critical infrastructure equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, ATS, STS, UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, busways, and power cabling.
• Support system integration testing, commissioning activities, and certification requirements.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data center integration, facility design, or turnkey project solutions.
• Strong understanding of data center design principles, bidding processes, project management methodologies, and integration testing.
• Proven experience supporting large‑scale data center projects exceeding 1MW capacity is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Project, and other relevant engineering design tools.
• Familiarity with data center certification processes, including Tier Certification of Constructed Facility.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building abilities.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable, and capable of performing in a fast‑paced environment.

• Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) - Uptime Institute
• Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) - EXIN EPI
