Job description

at Singapore's leading AI and technology training provider

The opportunity

At Vertical Institute, we believe great creativity plays an important role in how we connect with learners, communicate our programmes, and grow our brand. As we continue to expand our marketing initiatives, we are looking for a Creative Designer who can bring together strong visual design, motion design, video production, and an AI-driven mindset.

This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role with a strong focus on paid advertising, while also supporting social media, marketing campaigns, presentations, internal communications, and other brand touchpoints. You will be responsible for bringing creative concepts to life, from research and ideation through to design, animation, editing, iteration, and final delivery.

We are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, not limited by tools, but driven by outcomes. You should be comfortable developing ideas, proposing creative directions, and finding better ways to solve a brief rather than simply waiting for instructions.

You will work closely with the Marketing team to develop content for both paid and organic campaigns, using campaign context and performance feedback to improve creative work over time. You should also have hands‑on experience using AI throughout your workflow for concepting, image and asset generation, storyboarding, copy exploration, video creation, and improving production efficiency.

As part of the wider design team, you will also contribute to reusable templates, visual systems, and brand consistency across different touchpoints, helping us balance creative quality with the volume and speed required in a fast‑moving environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Creative Designer, you will develop creative work across Vertical Institute’s marketing and brand touchpoints, with paid advertising as a key focus.

This is a multidisciplinary role that requires strong graphic design fundamentals and the ability to think across different formats. You should be comfortable developing campaign concepts, creating static assets, editing short‑form video, applying motion where appropriate, and using AI tools to enhance the creative process.

You will collaborate closely with the Marketing team to understand campaign objectives, audiences, messaging, and performance feedback, then translate those insights into creative work that is visually engaging, aligned with our brand, and effective for its intended audience and platform.

Beyond individual deliverables, you will also contribute to broader brand and company initiatives, including organic social content, EDMs, presentations, internal communications, and other branded materials.

We foster a culture of experimentation, lifelong learning, and continuous improvement. You will be encouraged to stay current with creative trends, platform formats, AI capabilities, and emerging technologies, and identify better ways to improve both the quality and efficiency of our creative production.

What You Will Own

Create high‑quality paid advertising creatives with a strong understanding of visual hooks, hierarchy, CTAs, messaging, and creative variation.

Develop multiple concepts and executions for campaigns and work with Marketing to refine creative based on campaign objectives and performance feedback.

Design across a range of marketing and brand touchpoints, including organic social media, EDMs, presentations, internal communications, and other branded materials.

Edit short‑form and social video content from concept through final delivery, with a practical understanding of pacing, transitions, audio, simple compositing, and platform‑ready production.

Apply basic to intermediate motion design using tools such as CapCut, Canva, After Effects, or equivalent tools when appropriate.

Use generative AI throughout the creative process for concepting, image and asset generation, storyboarding, copy exploration, AI‑assisted video creation, and improving production efficiency.

Take projects end to end, including research, reference gathering, concept development, execution, iteration, quality assurance, and final delivery.

Build reusable templates, components, visual systems, and asset libraries that improve consistency and help the team scale creative production.

Collaborate closely with Marketing and other stakeholders, clearly communicating creative ideas, rationale, recommendations, project updates, and potential blockers.

Manage multiple priorities proactively, adapt to changing requirements when needed, and balance creative quality with production volume.

Maintain a high standard of attention to detail across final work, including brand consistency, copy accuracy, spelling and grammar, dimensions, platform requirements, and overall file quality.

Contribute to the consistency and ongoing evolution of Vertical Institute's brand across marketing, internal, and broader company touchpoints.

What We Look For

3+ years of relevant design experience preferred. Strong portfolio quality, creative judgment, and multidisciplinary capability may outweigh years of experience.

A strong portfolio is required, demonstrating excellent graphic design fundamentals and relevant work across paid advertising, digital campaigns, social content, or other marketing design.

Strong grasp of graphic design fundamentals, including typography, layout, hierarchy, composition, colour, and visual consistency.

Experience designing paid advertising creatives and an understanding of hooks, CTAs, creative variations, and how creative can be improved based on campaign feedback.

Ability to think conceptually, develop ideas, propose creative directions, and take ownership beyond simply executing instructions.

Intermediate proficiency in Figma, including practical knowledge of components, auto layout, styles, libraries, and reusable templates.

Strong working knowledge of Canva and CapCut, with general working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with After Effects or similar motion tools is helpful.

Hands‑on experience editing short‑form and social video content, with an understanding of the video workflow from concept or storyboard through final production.

Hands‑on experience using generative AI in creative production is required, including concepting, image and asset generation, storyboarding, copy exploration, video creation, and accelerating creative workflows.

Ability to critically evaluate, refine, and integrate AI‑generated outputs into polished creative work rather than relying on generated assets as final outputs.

Comfortable refining headlines, hooks, CTAs, and short campaign copy as part of the creative process. Professional copywriting expertise is not required.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain creative thinking, receive feedback constructively, and clearly communicate ideas and recommendations.

Reliable, adaptable, organised, and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and move work forward proactively.
