Cost Controller - Cost Engineer

Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks a Cost Engineer to manage project costs across the lifecycle, build budgets from Estimates and schedules, and track spending to keep programs within approved limits.

You will produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis for stakeholders, support contingency planning, and collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and project teams to improve cost reporting and budget control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Cost Engineering, Cost Control, Project Controls, or a similar role.
• Experience managing project budgets, cost forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis for large-scale projects.
• Familiar with project cost management systems such as EcoSys, Stature, Aconex, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Good understanding of project lifecycle, budgeting, change management, and cost control processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other project reporting tools.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain project budgets based on approved estimates and schedules.
• Monitor project spending, commitments, accruals, and cost performance to ensure projects remain within budget.
• Track and report project cost changes, risks, and variances, while recommending corrective actions where required.
• Prepare accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis for project stakeholders.
• Support contingency planning and cost control strategies to improve project performance.
• Work closely with Finance, Procurement, Project Controls, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost reporting and budget management.
• Review project commitments and contracts in accordance with company policies and delegated authority.
• Provide cost data and analysis to support project estimating, planning, and decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost management processes, efficiency, and project performance.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and proactive engagement.
