BRAVIA Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is a newly established company focused on the Home Entertainment industry.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Corporate Controller to lead the company's finance, accounting, business planning and controlling, administration, information systems, IT support, and legal and compliance functions in Malaysia.
As a key member of the Malaysia leadership team, the Corporate Controller will serve as both the Finance Controller and Corporate Operations Controller, partnering closely with the Country Head to provide financial leadership, operational oversight, corporate governance, and management information that support effective business decisions.
The role will also be responsible for implementing global policies, processes, and systems while ensuring they are effectively adapted to local business and regulatory requirements. Working closely with global and local stakeholders, the Corporate Controller will drive operational excellence, maintain strong business controls, and support the company's long‑term growth.
The successful candidate will lead a team across finance, controlling, administration, information systems, and other corporate support functions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance & Accounting
- Lead the Finance & Accounting team in overseeing the full spectrum of finance and accounting activities for the Malaysia entity, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations.
- Oversee financial accounting, month‑end and year‑end closing, management accounts and statutory reporting.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, treasury and general ledger activities.
- Oversee fixed assets, intercompany transactions, balance sheet management and financial reconciliations.
- Manage tax matters and coordinate with external tax advisors, including corporate tax, SST and other applicable Malaysian tax requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, banks and other professional advisors.
- Ensure finance policies, accounting practices and internal controls are consistently implemented in accordance with global requirements and local regulations.
- Review and improve finance processes, workflows and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy and risk management.
- Monitor key financial risks and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Ensure the finance function remains scalable and fit for the evolving needs of the Malaysia business.
2. Business Planning & Controlling
- Provide financial and business control support to the Country Head and management team, with a strong focus on performance monitoring and decision support.
- Lead the annual budgeting, business planning and monthly forecasting processes in line with group and regional planning requirements.
- Monitor actual performance against budget, forecast and business targets.
- Responsible to provide insight of revenue, costs, profitability, working capital, cash flow and key operating metrics.
- Develop and maintain appropriate financial and operational KPIs.
- Responsible to prepare management reports and performance reviews for the Country Head and relevant regional/global stakeholders.
- Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis and business case evaluation to support management decisions.
- Identify cost optimization and efficiency opportunities while maintaining appropriate business controls.
- Challenge assumptions and provide constructive financial insight to business leaders.
- Strengthen financial discipline and accountability across the organization.
3. Company Operations & Administration Control
- Lead the Business Planning & Support team in overseeing corporate administration and operational controls, ensuring local execution is aligned with company policies and global standards.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, approval matrices and delegated authorities are effectively implemented and followed.
- Oversee office and corporate administration activities and related support functions.
- Responsible in procurement, vendor management, contracts, company assets and administrative expenditure.
- Establish and maintain appropriate segregation of duties and authorization controls.
- Review administrative and operational processes and recommend improvements where gaps, inefficiencies or control risks are identified.
- Coordinate cross‑functional administrative matters and ensure clear ownership and accountability.
- Support the Country Head in maintaining an efficient, disciplined and well‑governed operating environment.
- Ensure local processes are practical and appropriately aligned with global policies without creating unnecessary administrative complexity.
4. Management & Business Reporting
- Responsible for overall quality and effectiveness of management & business reporting provided to local management, while ensuring alignment with group and regional reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial and operational reporting to the Country Head, regional management and global stakeholders.
- Coordinate the production of management reports, dashboards and key performance indicators.
- Ensure consistency, integrity and appropriate interpretation of data used for management decision‑making.
- Work with business and IT stakeholders to improve reporting processes, data integration and reporting efficiency.
- Develop or enhance reporting where additional visibility is required for local management.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive reporting and improve data accessibility.
- Ensure reporting supports both operational monitoring and strategic decision‑making.
5. Information Systems, IT & Business Applications
- Oversee the effective operation, local implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s information systems, IT infrastructure, business applications and IT support, in coordination with global/regional IT functions.
- Ensure company‑wide IT infrastructure, systems and applications are operating reliably and effectively in support of business operations.
- Act as the local business owner for ERP, finance systems, HR systems, CRM, operational applications and other business systems, as applicable.
- Coordinate with regional/global IT teams regarding system implementation, upgrades, enhancements, access management and issue resolution.
- Ensure global systems, standards and IT policies are appropriately implemented within the Malaysia organization.
- Identify local business requirements and coordinate with regional/global IT teams or external providers on appropriate solutions.
- Oversee day‑to‑day IT support and end‑user services, ensuring timely resolution of hardware, software, network, connectivity and application issues.
- Responsible in IT service providers, maintenance arrangements, software licenses and technology‑related expenditure.
- Ensure appropriate user access, system controls, data integrity, backup, cybersecurity and information security practices are maintained.
- Support system enhancement, integration, automation and digitalization initiatives that improve operational efficiency and management visibility.
- Ensure appropriate testing, user acceptance, training and change management are carried out for relevant system changes.
- Work with business functions to improve utilization and effectiveness of existing systems and applications.
- Ensure management has timely and reliable information for financial and operational decision‑making.
- Responsible local corporate compliance and governance matters, working closely with internal and external specialists.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian laws, regulations and corporate requirements.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel, company secretary, tax advisors and other professional service providers.
- Responsible corporate secretarial matters, statutory filings, licenses and regulatory documentation as applicable.
- Monitor key legal, regulatory and contractual obligations and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
- Support the review and administration of commercial and corporate contracts, engaging legal counsel where specialist advice is required.
- Implement and maintain company compliance policies and procedures in accordance with group requirements and local regulations.
- Responsible compliance risks and elevate significant issues to the Country Head and relevant regional/global functions.
- Promote a strong culture of integrity, compliance, risk awareness and corporate governance.
- Ensure proper records and documentation are maintained for statutory, audit and compliance purposes.
7. Internal Control, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous strengthening of the company’s control environment and operating effectiveness.
- Ensure global internal control policies and frameworks are appropriately implemented at country level.
- Review local processes regularly to identify control gaps, inefficiencies and operational risks.
- Responsible internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Monitor remediation actions and follow up with responsible functions.
- Strengthen process discipline while maintaining appropriate flexibility for business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement in finance, administration, reporting, systems and operational processes.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and control awareness across the organization.
Job Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CA(M) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with a strong combination of relevant finance, business controlling and corporate operations experience will also be considered.
Experience
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Corporate Controller or similar senior finance leadership position.
- Experience overseeing functions beyond core accounting, such as business controlling, administration, information systems, IT support, compliance or corporate operations, is highly preferred.
- Experience within a multinational, regional or group environment with established global policies, systems and reporting frameworks is advantageous.
- Experience in implementing, maintaining and improving standardized processes and systems across a country organization.
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, internal controls and business partnering.
- Experience working with auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, company secretaries, IT service providers and other professional advisors.
