Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a Diploma-qualified cook to join its hospital kitchen team in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on timely meal preparation, portioning, and ensuring food safety and presentation according to standard recipes.

You will monitor ingredients, maintain sanitation, logs, and help with distribution of meals, while upholding KPJ's commitment to quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Culinary or higher is required.
  • At least 1 year of working experience in the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule cooking for timely meal preparation.
  • Check menu/production sheets/catering requisition to determine type and quantities of raw materials to be prepared.
  • Prepare food in accordance with standard recipes.
  • Ensure food portioning and presentation during meal assembly are in accordance with the necessary standard (tray line/process/ function).
  • Ensure food prepared does not have any sign of deterioration, mold, or other contamination.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintain temperature logs as required, and maintain appropriate dating, labelling, and rotation of all food items.
  • Maintain an orderly working environment by keeping the kitchen area clean and neat at all times.
  • Support the distribution of prepared foods where necessary.
  • Operate and maintain good condition of all food & beverage equipment and utensils.
  • Ensure the recommended stock level of all food items is in place and updated when necessary.
  • Engage in departmental improvement activities by generating resource-efficient menu ideas meeting patient needs.
