Job summary

The Financial Coconut Network in Subang Jaya is seeking a Content Creator - Social Media Journalist to translate complex financial data into engaging stories for our social channels. You will write articles, script videos, and adapt content for IG Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn, and more to educate and spark conversation among Malaysians.

You'll interview guests from financial advisors to everyday Malaysians, pitch timely stories to editors, and develop gated guides or invites that grow our subscriber

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in journalism, content marketing, or social media management.
• Strong interest in personal finance and ability to explain complex topics clearly.
• Comfort with interviewing and lead generation tasks.
• Self-motivated with independent storytelling from ideation to publish.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging articles and social scripts for platforms like IG, TikTok, LinkedIn.

Content Creator - Social Media Journalist

The Financial Coconut Network - Subang Jaya, Selangor

The Role:
We are looking for a curious, mature, and self-sufficient Content Creator. You are not just a "writer"; you are a story detective. You will be the bridge between complex financial data and the everyday Malaysian. Your primary goal is to grow our social media presence by creating engaging content that educates, informs, and sparks conversation.

What will you do:

• Content Creation (Written & Social): Write clear, engaging articles and scripts. Translate financial jargon (investments, EPF, budget policies) into bite-sized social posts (IG Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn).
• Story Pitching: You are the eyes and ears of the team. You will proactively pitch timely, relevant story ideas to the Editor based on current events and audience pain points.
• Interviewing: Identify, reach out to, and interview interesting guests—from financial advisors to everyday Malaysians with unique financial survival stories. Get the untold stories.
• Lead Generation: Craft content (e.g., gated guides, webinar invites, engaging CTAs) designed to capture leads and grow our subscriber/email list.
• Social Media Growth: Manage and execute the social calendar. Analyze what performs well and adapt quickly to algorithm changes.
• Independent Execution: Take ownership of your stories from ideation to publishing, requiring minimal supervision.

We are looking for:

• Experience: 1-2 years experience in journalism, content marketing, or social media management (not necessarily in finance, but they must have a strong interest in personal finance).
• They are annoyed by "get rid quick" scams and want to provide real value.
