Job summary

Ann Joo is seeking an on-site Safety Officer to conduct daily site inspections, monitor safety procedures, and assist in implementing the SHMP for a major project in Malaysia. The role involves toolbox talks, inductions, and coordination with subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a DOSH Yellow Book, NTSP, and have at least 1 year of experience in a TNB project, with good written and verbal communication in Bahasa and English and a valid driving

Qualifications

• Valid Yellow Book holder registered with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH).
• Minimum one year experience in TNB project.
• Niosh Tenaga Safety Passport (NTSP) Holder.
• Familiar with standard concepts and best practices for construction/substation/environment for safety and administration.
• Good writing and verbal communication skills in Bahasa and English.
• Skills to operate common site equipment.
• Valid driving license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections and safety walkabouts to identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with safety procedures, method statements, risk assessments, and HSE requirements.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining the Project Safety and Health Management Plan (SHMP).
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and safety awareness sessions for workers and subcontractors.
• Ensure workers and visitors complete safety induction before entering the project site.
• Monitor construction and installation activities including civil works, electrical installation, equipment handling, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, electrical safety, and other control measures for high-risk activities.
• Monitor activities involving working at height, lifting, hot works, excavation, confined space, heavy machinery, and electrical works.
• Ensure proper usage and availability of PPE among all personnel at site.
• Stop unsafe work practices and report safety violations to SHO and Project Management.
• Assist in accident, incident, near miss investigation and safety reporting.
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed.
• Monitor site housekeeping, emergency equipment, fire protection systems, and first aid facilities.
• Maintain safety records including inspection reports, toolbox attendance, and safety observations.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and regulations.
• Support safety audits, client inspections, and authority inspections when required.
• Perform any other safety-related duties assigned by the SHO or superior.
