Job summary

Lam Research in Penang is seeking a Configuration Engineer to ensure OBOMs meet customer specifications with precision in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will collaborate across engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing to deliver accurate configurations for complex orders.

Responsibilities include reviewing change orders, adhering to change processes, and ensuring timely, customer-specific configurations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s engineering degree or advanced degree with related experience.
• 2+ years of related experience preferred; fresh graduates welcomed.
• Strong English written and verbal communication across global stakeholders.

As a Configuration Engineer, you will be a key contributor to Lam’s ability to deliver complex, high-value systems to customers with precision and speed. What you’ll do

• Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and strong communication skills while operating in HVM manufacturing environment.
• Support global configuration engineering community by participating in and supporting others within the role community.
• Configure unique Sales Order Bill of Material (OBOMs) from customer quotes and non-standard requests (NSRs), with a goal of zero defects.
• Review of incoming OBOM change order (CO) requests to understand engineering, supply chain and manufacturing impacts.
• Adherence to OBOM Change process and high-level accuracy in implementation of those changes.
• Ensure timely implementation of unique customer-specific requirements and engineering changes on OBOMs.
• Ability to hold yourself and peers accountable for high-quality configurations using existing tools for self-review and peer-review.
• Participate in cross functional teams to resolve issues throughout the lifecycle of an order.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s engineering degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of semi-conductor industry, or similar high tech manufacturing industry.
• Experience in problem solving techniques and tools, including 8D and PSDMP.
• Understanding planning and order management processes.
• Basic understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, configuration control, and change management processes.
• Previous work experience in a manufacturing / configuration engineering environment for physical parts.
• Proven ability to adapt to urgent issues and process changes.
