Job summary

Lam Research in Penang is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the new product pilot production, virtual manufacturing, and high-volume manufacturing. You will oversee planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods and operations, tackling technical and production challenges to optimize costs and quality.

You will design and implement manufacturing processes, coordinate with product and manufacturing engineers, and develop handoff packages for transitions to high-volume

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities in electro/mechanical assemblies.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in DFMA with structured problem-solving and decision-making.
• Experience with CAD/PLM/PDM systems.
• Experience in Engineering Change Management Process.
• Working knowledge of OMS, process planning, and BOM Management.
• Graduate eligible for the role.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Design and implement safe, cost-effective complex equipment and methods of assembly for all manufacturing phases.
• Define processes for high-volume manufacturing including routing and sequencing.
• Perform virtual build and create sequence of assembly.
• Investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions for operational problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and cycle time.
• Review designs to improve manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release drawings & BOM using Engineering Change Management.
• Develop handoff package for transition to high-volume manufacturing.

The impact you’ll make

Join Lam as a Manufacturing Engineer where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the new product pilot production factory, virtual manufacturing, or high-volume manufacturing production factory. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot new or existing product problems, involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Designs, develops, and implements safe and cost-effective complex equipment and methods of assembly for all phases of manufacturing.
• Define process and methods for high volume manufacturing which includes operations method sheet, routing, and sequencing.
• Perform virtual build and create sequence of assembly.
• Perform root cause investigation and recommend corrective action for operational problems, such as material use variances, bottlenecks, fixture issues during build or manufacturing process.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes or resolve problems and follow through resolution to reduce costs, improve product quality, and cycle time.
• Reviews and develops designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
• Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience; or advanced degree with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
• Skilled troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electro/mechanical assemblies.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making.
• Proficient in software applications such as CAD modeling, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or Product Data Modeling (PDM) systems.
• Experience in Engineering Change Management Process.
• Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.
• This is a graduate eligible role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
• Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.
