Job summary

Pico International (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead contract management, commercial risk mitigation and negotiations across multiple projects in Malaysia. You will work closely with Project Directors and Operations to safeguard profitability and ensure robust cash flow management.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills and deep knowledge of construction contracts including local forms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial/contract management experience.
• At least 3 years as Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial Manager.
• Experience managing multiple projects.
• Proven client and subcontractor negotiation experience.
• Strong understanding of project profitability and cash flow.
• Ability to work independently and challenge project leaders on risks.
• Strategic and results-oriented mindset.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts including FIDIC, SIA/SISV, PAM, CIDB/JKR and related forms.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Directors and Operations to identify and address commercial risks early.
• Provide commercial advice, reporting and recommendations to the project team.
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate with procurement and quantity surveyors to manage subcontracts and procurement exposure.
• Develop and implement financial controls and reporting to track project performance.
• Report on overall commercial strategy, profitability and cash flow to senior management.
• Identify and conduct training on local and international taxation regulation to mitigate company exposure.

Job description

• Work closely with Project Directors and Operations to ensure commercial and contractual risks are identified and addressed early
• Provide clear commercial advice, reporting and recommendations to Project team
• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
• Work closely with procurement and quantity surveyors to manage subcontracts and procurement commercial exposure
• Develop and implement financial controls and reporting mechanisms to track project performance
• Manage and report overall commercial strategy, project profitability and cash flow to Senior Management
• Identify and conduct training program in relation to local and international taxation regulation to equip relevant department head in understanding and mitigating company exposure

Requirements:

• 5+ years of commercial / contract management experience
• At least 3 years in a Commercial Manager / Senior Commercial Manager capacity
• Experience managing multiple projects
• Proven experience in client and subcontractor negotiations
• Strong understanding of Project profitability and cash flow
• Able to work independently and confidently challenge Project Directors / Operations where commercial risks arise
• Commercially strategic and results-oriented, rather than purely administrative
• Strong knowledge and experience in construction and commercial contracts, including FIDIC, SIA/SISV, PSSCOC, PAM, CIDB/JKR and other local or bespoke forms of contract.
