The Collateral Management Processing Analyst is responsible for performing daily collateral operations for Markets products, ensuring timely margin call processing, collateral movement, dispute tracking, reconciliation, and exception management in line with agreed cut-offs and control standards.
The role supports day-to-day processing across OTC derivatives, exchange-traded derivatives, securities financing and other Markets activities where collateral, margin, valuation or exposure management is required.
The candidate must be able to work on Singapore public holidays and support London market hours as required, given the global nature of Markets Operations and time-critical margin call obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Collateral & Margin Processing
- Perform daily margin call issuance, response, agreement, booking and settlement follow-up within required market and internal cut-offs.
- Process collateral movements including cash and securities collateral, ensuring accurate instruction, validation and confirmation.
- Monitor margin call queues, failed settlements, unmatched items and breaks, escalating exceptions promptly to minimise operational and financial risk.
- Perform daily collateral, exposure and valuation reconciliations, investigating variances with internal stakeholders and counterparties.
- Track and resolve collateral disputes, aged breaks, valuation differences and settlement exceptions through to closure.
- Maintain clear records of dispute reasons, escalation actions, resolutions and outstanding risk items for reporting and audit purposes.
3. Controls, Risk & Regulatory Discipline
- Execute collateral processes in accordance with operating procedures, risk controls, regulatory obligations and service level agreements.
- Perform maker/checker controls, data validation and exception escalation to ensure completeness and accuracy of processing.
- Support timely reporting of operational incidents, control issues and aged exceptions.
- Assist with audit, regulatory, management and internal review requests as required.
- Ensure all breaks and high-risk items are documented, owned and followed through until resolution.
4. Stakeholder & Counterparty Engagement
- Liaise with Front Office, Risk, Legal, Treasury, Settlements, Finance, Technology and external counterparties to resolve collateral and margin-related issues.
- Communicate clearly on margin status, disputes, settlement issues and escalations, especially where action is time-sensitive.
5. Shift Coverage & Business Continuity
- Support London hours coverage to meet global market cut-offs and ensure continuity of collateral processing across time zones.
- Work on Singapore public holidays where required, particularly when overseas markets remain open and collateral obligations continue to apply.
- Participate in contingency arrangements, volume peaks and critical market events to support timely processing and risk reduction.
6. Process Improvement & Team Support
- Identify recurring breaks, manual workarounds and process inefficiencies, and support remediation or automation initiatives.
- Maintain accurate procedures, checklists and process documentation.
- Support cross-training and knowledge sharing within the team to strengthen operational resilience.
- Contribute to team metrics, risk dashboards and management reporting where required.
- Demonstrate ownership, accuracy and urgency in all time-critical collateral management activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 1-3 year of experience in collateral management, margin processing, settlements, middle office or Markets Operations within a financial institution.
- Good understanding of collateral, margin calls, exposure management, securities or cash collateral, settlements and operational risk controls.
- Familiarity with OTC derivatives, exchange-traded derivatives, securities financing or treasury products would be an advantage.
- Able to work London hours and on Singapore public holidays where business needs require market coverage.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to process high volumes within tight deadlines.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate breaks, identify root causes and escalate appropriately.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with Front Office, Risk, Legal, Settlements, Technology and external counterparties.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with operational systems, reports and reconciliations.
- Able to remain calm, organised and risk-focused during deadline pressure, market events or exception-heavy days.
