Job summary

NanoGrind Technologies Sdn. Bhd. in Penang seeks a Service & Application Engineer to install, commission, and calibrate precision CNC grinding machines and PVD coating systems on customer sites.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues, optimize grinding processes, and train customers on operation and maintenance, with travel to client sites across the region. A Diploma/Degree in mechanical related field is required; hands-on experience with ANCA, Walter, Balzers, and PVD

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with CNC grinding machines (ANCA, Walter, Rollomatic, Saacke, Reinecker, etc.).
• Experience with PVD coating machines (Balzers, Platit, Bernex, KOBELCO) is a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of grinding technology: wheel balancing, dressing, coolant management, GD&T, surface finish.
• Familiar with vacuum systems, coating processes, and thermal treatments.
• Experience with tool inspection equipment (Zoller, WPP, Alicona) is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting ability (mechanical/electrical/PLC/CNC).
• Willing to travel and support customer sites.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service mindset.
• Responsible, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, align, and calibrate precision CNC grinding machines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control issues.
• Optimize grinding processes including wheel selection, dressing, coolant setup, and cycle-time improvements.
• Support test cuts, sample validation, and grinding development for carbide, HSS, PCD, CBN, and ceramic tools.
• Conduct machine geometry checks, spindle tests, and precision measurements to ensure micron-level accuracy.
• Install and commission PVD coating systems including vacuum chambers, pumping systems, heating units, and power supplies.
• Diagnose coating issues such as adhesion failure, arc instability, non-uniform coating, or vacuum problems.
• Support coating recipe setup, fixture design, chamber cleaning, and coating quality assurance.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on coating machines.
• Provide grinding process optimization and coating parameter recommendations based on customer needs.
• Develop or support CAM/grinding software programming (NUMROTO, VirtualGrind, iGrind, Tool Studio, etc.).
• Train customers on machine operation, software use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control issues.
• Optimize grinding processes including wheel selection, dressing, coolant setup, and cycle-time improvements.
• Support test cuts, sample validation, and grinding development for carbide, HSS, PCD, CBN, and ceramic tools.

PVD Coating Machine Support

• Evaluate new grinding wheels, coatings, fixtures, and process improvements.
• Train customers on machine operation, software use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements:
