Job summary

Skill Quotient Technologies Inc in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Cloud Data Platform Engineer to help build, monitor, and optimize a scalable Data Ecosystem in the cloud. The role focuses on security, cost-effectiveness, and providing guidance to users to maximize service utilization.

The position requires strong automation, DevOps, and IaC skills, with Terraform, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions; Python is a plus. It is a full-time on-site role with a monthly salary of RM10,000 to RM15,000.

Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, relational databases (modeling and tuning) and securing cloud resources (Azure preferred).
• Experience with automation, version control, DevOps, IaC and CI/CD using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform.
• Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Azure CLI); Python is a plus; software development experience preferred.
• Understanding of Data Engineering concepts: ETL/ELT, data analytics and processing tools.
• Collaborative, able to document and communicate clearly in meetings, chats, and PRs.

Job responsibilities

• continuously improving, monitoring, maintaining, and extending the individual elements of the Data Ecosystem infrastructure in the cloud, e.g., cloud storage, file event queues, and databases, etc.
• ensuring that the Data Ecosystem is secure, stable, cost effective, scalable and help our users with guidance to use the services optimally collaborating with architects to set guidelines and standards for the Data Ecosystem
• troubleshooting tickets and incidents reported by data engineers relating to the platform and helping them succeed with their deliveries
• build and maintain pipelines that can provision technical products to those using Infrastructure as Code.

Requirements

• must have experience using Kubernetes, Docker, relational databases (modelling, performance tuning) and private networking as well as deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and securing cloud resources, preferably on Azure
• must have experience with automation, version control, DevOps, IaC and CI/CD (e.g., using Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform)
• must have experience in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, and Azure CLI) and it is a big plus also having experience with software development, preferably using Python
• must have good understanding of Data Engineering practices such as data analytics, data processing tools, ETL, ELT etc.
• must enjoy collaborating on features and user stories with your colleagues in the team, and can show transparency with your work through documenting and communicating it clearly, both in meetings, comments, chats, and pull requests
