Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Civil Engineer with a Diploma in Civil Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience in road/highway construction. You will prepare designs, cost estimates, permits, and bid documents, while supporting planning hearings and construction oversight.

The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Project, plus strong communication and leadership skills. Travel across Malaysia is expected, with transport and accommodation provided.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering required.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in road/highway/pavement construction.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles for road design and construction.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project and other construction software.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to travel and work in different locations within Malaysia (transport and accommodation provided).

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and engineering duties in compliance with all related regulations.
• Prepare engineering design, specifications, costs and quantity estimates for projects; obtain easements or permits.
• Support development review processes including hearings and planning meetings.
• Prepare RFPs and bids; review contracts and consultant designs.
• Review computations, layouts and designs from field/survey data for adequacy and accuracy.
• Research applicable codes and requirements; develop engineering plans and bid documents; coordinate bid advertising.
• Review developer plans to ensure compliance with city standards.
• Represent Project Manager in their absence and monitor construction progress.

- Responsible to perform technical and engineering duties according to all related compliance
- Prepare engineering design, specification, costs and quantity estimate of work project; obtain required easement or permit from local authority
- Provide engineering support to development review process, including support during hearing/pre-application conference/planning commission meeting/kick off meeting
- Prepare request for proposal and bid, review contract bid and proposal, assist in the coordination and review of consultant design work
- Review and check adequacy and accuracy of computation, preliminary layout and design work from the field and survey data
- Research applicable code, regulation and requirement for assigned project, develop engineering plan and compile preliminary layout of plan, write specification for plan, coordinate required advertising for bid, perform construction management, advise contractor and site supervisor during actual construction
- Review developer plan and specification within scope of knowledge for the appropriate design of public work project and compliance with city standard
- Represent Project Manager on Project Management issue in absence of Project Manager
- Monitor of construction project and prepare progress report
