Job summary

SHF Services (M) Sdn Bhd in Subang Jaya, Selangor is seeking an experienced Chinese Chef to lead our kitchen team and prepare authentic Chinese cuisine for guests. This full-time position focuses on high standards, flavor, and presentation in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

You will mentor junior staff, manage inventory, ensure food safety, and collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items while maintaining quality and consistency across all dishes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Chinese Chef in hospitality or catering.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chinese Chef to join our culinary team at SHF Services (M) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Subang Jaya, Selangor. As a Chinese Chef, you will be at the heart of our kitchen operations, responsible for preparing authentic and high-quality Chinese cuisine that delights our guests. This role is pivotal to maintaining our reputation for excellence in hospitality and ensuring consistently outstanding dining experiences. You will work in a dynamic kitchen environment, collaborating with a skilled team of culinary professionals to deliver exceptional food presentation and taste.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes using traditional cooking techniques and methods
• Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste and presentation
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations at all times
• Manage kitchen inventory, stock rotation and ordering of Chinese cooking ingredients and supplies
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food preparation standards
• Work effectively within a fast-paced kitchen environment, meeting service times and customer expectations consistently
• Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen team to develop new Chinese menu items and seasonal specials
• Monitor and maintain cooking equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance issues promptly
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company food preparation policies
• Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen workspace

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience of at least 5+ years as a Chinese Chef in a professional hospitality or catering environment
• Expert knowledge of traditional and contemporary Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients and flavour profiles
• Proficiency in wok cooking, stir-frying, steaming, braising and other specialised Chinese cooking methods
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and kitchen sanitation practices
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and consistency
• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple dishes simultaneously
• Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to train, supervise and motivate junior kitchen staff
• Creativity and passion for developing innovative Chinese dishes and menus
• Physical stamina to work long shifts in a hot kitchen environment
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working as part of a kitchen team
• Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are highly desirable
