The GMP Group in Malaysia seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead strategic financial planning, governance, and reporting for the Group. You will partner with the CEO and Board to drive sustainable growth, capital efficiency, and risk management.
You will oversee budgeting, consolidation, and statutory reporting under MFRS and Bursa Malaysia requirements, while strengthening financial governance and internal controls across the Group.
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and overseeing the Group’s overall financial management, financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, taxation, corporate finance, risk management, internal controls, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
The CFO shall support the Board of Directors, CEO, and Senior Management in achieving the Group’s strategic objectives, sustainable revenue growth, profitability, effective cash-flow management, financial resilience, and long-term shareholder value.
The CFO shall ensure that the Group’s financial information is accurate, complete, reliable, and timely and that the Group maintains appropriate financial governance and complies with applicable laws, regulations, accounting standards, and listing requirements.
Develop and implement the Group’s financial strategy in alignment with the Group’s business objectives and long-term strategic plans.
Act as the principal financial adviser and strategic business partner to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Management.
Provide financial analysis, commercial insights, and recommendations relating to business growth, investments, new projects, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and other corporate initiatives.
Evaluate the financial viability, profitability, cash-flow impact, risks, and expected returns of significant business opportunities and investment proposals.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, cost management, working-capital utilisation, and shareholder value.
Lead the preparation of the Group’s annual budget, business plan, financial plan, and long-term financial forecasts.
Establish appropriate financial targets, performance measures, and financial KPIs.
Review departmental budgets, project budgets, capital expenditure proposals, and resource requirements.
Monitor actual financial performance against approved budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
Conduct periodic budget-to-actual analysis and identify material variances, risks, and corrective actions.
Maintain rolling financial and cash-flow forecasts to support timely Management and Board decision-making.
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts and consolidated financial reports.
Ensure the timely preparation and submission of quarterly financial results, annual financial statements, annual reports, and other required financial information.
Ensure compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (“MFRS”), the Companies Act 2016, Bursa Malaysia ACE Market Listing Requirements, and other applicable financial reporting requirements.
Review significant accounting treatments, estimates, judgments, provisions, impairments, revenue recognition, contract assets, and other material accounting matters.
Ensure the integrity, completeness, accuracy, and reliability of the Group’s accounting records and financial information.
Present financial performance, material financial risks, significant variances, and financial recommendations to the Board, ARMC, and Senior Management.
Manage and coordinate the annual statutory audit and ensure the timely resolution of audit matters.
Support the Board and Management in ensuring compliance with applicable Bursa Malaysia ACE Market Listing Requirements, corporate governance requirements, and relevant laws and regulations.
Work closely with the Company Secretary, Sponsor, corporate advisers, legal advisers, auditors, and other professional advisers.
Review the financial implications of corporate announcements, acquisitions, disposals, fund-raising exercises, related-party transactions, recurrent related-party transactions, and other material transactions.
Ensure the timely identification and escalation of material financial information that may require disclosure or announcement.
Support the preparation of Board papers, ARMC papers, financial presentations, and other governance documents.
Ensure compliance with approved financial authorities, policies, procedures, and delegated approval limits.
Develop and implement effective treasury and cash-management strategies.
Monitor the Group’s cash position, liquidity, working capital, banking facilities, and funding requirements.
Prepare and review short-term and long-term cash-flow forecasts.
Optimise cash utilisation and maintain sufficient liquidity to support business operations and project execution.
Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, financiers, and other funding providers.
Negotiate and manage banking facilities, financing arrangements, guarantees, performance bonds, and other financial instruments.
Monitor compliance with banking covenants and financing obligations.
Lead or support corporate finance initiatives, including equity fund-raising, debt financing, private placements, rights issues, mergers and acquisitions, investments, and other corporate exercises.
Evaluate financing alternatives and recommend appropriate funding and capital-structure strategies.
Conduct financial modelling, valuation analysis, investment evaluation, financial due diligence, and transaction analysis.
Assess the financial impact and expected returns of proposed acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and strategic collaborations.
Coordinate with sponsors, corporate advisers, bankers, legal advisers, auditors, valuers, and other professional advisers.
Monitor the utilisation of proceeds from corporate exercises and ensure compliance with approved purposes and applicable disclosure requirements.
Establish appropriate financial controls and reporting processes for project-based operations.
Review project budgets, cost estimates, cash-flow forecasts, expected profit margins, and financial risks.
Monitor project revenue recognition, contract assets, project costs, gross profit margins, cost-to-complete estimates, billing progress, collections, and cash-flow performance.
Conduct project budget-to-actual reviews and identify cost overruns, margin deterioration, delays, claims, and other financial risks.
Work closely with Business Development, PMO, Procurement, Contract, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve project profitability and financial performance.
Review project provisions, impairment indicators, expected losses, and project-completion financial matters.
Establish, maintain, and continuously improve effective financial controls, policies, procedures, and governance processes.
Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and approval controls across finance, procurement, project, payment, and operational processes.
Identify and assess financial, operational, liquidity, credit, compliance, and business risks.
Develop and monitor appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
Work closely with the Internal Auditor and ARMC in planning and executing internal audit activities.
Ensure the timely implementation and closure of internal audit findings and agreed corrective actions.
Promptly escalation material financial risks, control deficiencies, compliance matters to the CEO, ARMC, or Board, where appropriate.
Oversee the Group’s tax planning, tax compliance, tax reporting, and tax-risk management.
Ensure the timely submission and payment of corporate income tax, SST, withholding tax, payroll-related taxes, and other applicable taxes.
Manage tax audits, tax reviews, tax investigations, and tax-related correspondence.
Work with tax advisers and relevant authorities on significant tax matters.
Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their potential impact on the Group.
Ensure appropriate transfer-pricing policies and documentation, where applicable.
Support the CEO and Board in communicating the Group’s financial performance, business strategy, growth plans, and financial outlook to shareholders, investors, analysts, and other stakeholders.
Prepare financial presentations, investor materials, financial analyses, and other relevant communications.
Support investor briefings, analyst engagements, annual general meetings, and other stakeholder engagements.
Ensure that financial communications are accurate, balanced, consistent, and compliant with applicable disclosure requirements.
Lead, supervise, develop, and retain a competent and effective Finance team.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, KPIs, performance expectations, and development plans for Finance personnel.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, financial discipline, continuous improvement, and business partnership.
Improve finance processes through automation, digitalisation, system enhancement, and effective use of technology.
Develop appropriate succession plans and strengthen the Finance team’s technical, commercial, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
The CFO shall exercise authority in accordance with the Group’s approved Limits of Authority, financial policies, Board resolutions, and applicable laws and regulations.
The CFO shall have the authority to:
Review and recommend financial policies, budgets, forecasts, financing proposals, and strategic financial initiatives.
Require relevant financial and operational information from departments and business units for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
Escalate material financial risks, control deficiencies, compliance matters, and significant financial variances to the CEO, ARMC, or Board.
Approve financial transactions within the limits delegated under the Group’s approved Limits of Authority.
Engage external professional advisers subject to the Group’s approved authority limits and procurement procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Membership with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”) or another relevant recognised professional body.
Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, audit, corporate finance, or financial management.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role.
Experience in a public listed company is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of MFRS, Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, corporate governance, taxation, treasury, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience in project-based, technology, IT solutions, engineering, construction, system integration, or contract-based businesses will be an advantage.
Experience in corporate exercises, fund-raising, banking facilities, investments, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations will be an advantage.
