Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Education Sector
We run an established international, private school and kindergarten in Malaysia, providing quality education to approximately 2,000 students. Our academic programmes include the Cambridge IGCSE as well as local curriculum, providing high-quality education in a nurturing and academically focused environment.
The Role
The CEO will have overall responsibility for the strategic, commercial and operational leadership of the existing schools, while simultaneously developing and executing the organisation's broader growth strategy.
A key priority of the role will be to:
- Strengthen and expand the existing schools.
- Improve enrolment, retention, financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Identify and develop opportunities for new campuses and school locations.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions, investments and education-sector opportunities.
- Ensure that expansion is undertaken without compromising academic quality, school culture or financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and execute the group's strategy for growth, profitability and long-term sustainability.
- Strengthen the performance and market position of the existing schools.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for new campuses, acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures.
- Oversee financial performance, budgets, cash flow, profitability and commercial KPIs.
- Drive enrolment growth, student retention and revenue development across existing schools.
- Evaluate investments, expansion opportunities and new revenue streams.
3. Academic & Operations
- Work closely with the Principal and academic team to maintain high educational standards and student outcomes.
- Oversee effective school operations, ensuring efficiency, quality and a positive learning environment.
4. People, Governance & Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing senior management team.
- Maintain strong governance, compliance, risk management and internal controls.
- Build effective relationships with the Board, shareholders, parents, staff, authorities, investors and strategic partners.
5. Board Reporting & Strategic Execution
- Present strategic plans, financial performance and expansion proposals to the Board.
- Translate Board-approved strategies into clear plans, KPIs and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure the successful execution of key growth and transformation initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the Malaysian education market.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- 10+ years of senior management experience.
- Experience in education, preferably international/private schools.
- Strong commercial, financial and business development skills.
- Proven track record in enrolment growth, revenue generation and business expansion.
- Experience in partnerships, JVs, acquisitions or new campus development is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication and decision-making abilities.
