Job summary

Clarivate in Penang, Malaysia is seeking an Associate Translation Specialist (Chemistry) to support the Derwent Patent Search product by reviewing, improving, and proofreading Chinese-to-English patent content. You will support translation quality checks and AI-enabled workflows to ensure accuracy, consistency, and up-to-date content.

The role requires strong Mandarin and English skills and a science background in chemistry/biotechnology, with a collaborative, data-driven approach.

Qualifications

• Excellent Mandarin reading and writing; strong English reading, speaking and writing.
• Degree in biotechnology, chemistry, biomedical science, or related field; a master's preferred.
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to identify issues and propose improvements.
• Strong analytical, data analysis and presentation skills using Excel/Power BI/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Chinese-to-English patent content is accurate, consistent and useful.
• Conduct quality checks and benchmarking reviews on Chinese-to-English translation output.
• Analyze machine translation performance and prepare reports for stakeholders.
• Review and maintain translation memory databases, glossaries and term dictionaries.
• Perform quality assurance on translated patent content, including trademarks.
• Manage customer cases and operational requests related to translation quality.
• Provide feedback to internal teams and external vendors to improve translation workflows.
• Maintain guidelines and best-practice materials to support consistent quality.
• Share knowledge and quality insights with peers to support team growth.
