Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is required.
• 2–3 years of lab experience.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chemist to join our team at Lotus Laboratory Services (M) Sdn Bhd in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our laboratory operations and scientific excellence. As a Chemist, you will be responsible for conducting complex chemical analyses, developing testing methodologies, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy in our laboratory work. Your expertise will directly contribute to supporting our clients across various industries and maintaining our reputation as a trusted provider of laboratory services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis using appropriate analytical instruments and techniques
• Prepare, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance
• Develop, validate and document new testing methodologies and standard operating procedures
• Conduct experiments and tests in accordance with established protocols and international standards
• Record, analyse and interpret experimental data with precision and attention to detail
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and communicate findings to clients and internal stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations, health and safety procedures, and environmental standards
• Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality standards
• Collaborate with colleagues to support ongoing laboratory projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain organised and detailed laboratory records and documentation

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related chemical science discipline
• Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience working in a laboratory environment
• Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, techniques and methodologies
• Proficiency in operating standard laboratory instruments and analytical equipment
• Excellent attention to detail with strong data recording and documentation skills
• Ability to interpret and analyse complex chemical data accurately
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and best practices
• Good understanding of quality assurance principles and standard operating procedures
• Strong communication skills to prepare clear technical reports and present findings
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentProblem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Preferred: Experience with specific analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy or mass spectrometry
• Preferred: Professional certifications or memberships in recognised chemistry bodies, and knowledge of ISO 17025.
