Job summary

SGS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to support the Laboratory Technical & Compliance Manager in daily operations and to help ensure ISO/IEC 17025 and SGS requirements are met. The role involves method development assistance, investigations, training, and ongoing SOP updates.

The candidate should hold a science degree with strong CGPA, possess analytical lab experience or a positive training attitude, and be a team player; Chinese language ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or any science-related field with CGPA 3.5 or equivalent.
• Experience in a relevant analytical laboratory; fresh graduates with the right attitude welcome as training will be provided.
• Good personality, independent and a good team player.
• Chinese language proficiency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist Laboratory Technical & Compliance Manager on day-to-day laboratory operation for assigned section towards ISO/IEC 17025, SAMM policy and SGS GCSC requirements.
• Assist Technical Advisor/Technical Specialist on new method development as per business need.
• Respond to queries from customers/business/customer support within agreed timeframe with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with Operations on investigations and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframe.
• Periodically review and update Working Instructions and SOPs.
• Improve lab processes/methodology for efficiency.
• Lead root-cause investigations of non-conformities and customer complaints with corrective actions.
• Provide technical training to laboratory personnel and conduct refreshment training.
• Identify new technologies and initiatives for enhancement.
• Uphold Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory Practice; ensure HSE compliance.

Job description

Assist the Laboratory Technical & Compliance Manager on day-to-day laboratory operation for assigned section towards effective implementation of quality system ISO/IEC 17025, SAMM policy and SGS GCSC requirement.

Key responsibilities

Assist Technical Advisor/Technical Specialist on new method development as per business need

Respond to queries raised by customer/business/customer support team within agreed timeframe, with minimal supervision from Technical Advisor/Specialist

Collaborate with Operation team on investigation and deliver the outcome of investigation professionally to the party who raised the queries within agreed timeframe

Periodically review, enhance and update Working Instruction and Standard Operating Procedures when needed

Work towards enhancement of existing lab process/methodology for lab efficiency improvement

Work with laboratory operation team on root-cause investigation of all non-conformities and/or customer complaints with proposal of appropriate corrective and preventive actions

Provide technical training to laboratory personnel to ensure laboratory competency and conduct refreshment training when needed

Identify insight into new technologies and initiative for enhancement

Assist to ensure Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory practice in the laboratory

Adhere to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by upholding good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process to ensure compliance to HSE requirements

About you

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or any science related field from recognized university/college with minimum CGPA 3.5 or equivalent

Experience in relevant analytical laboratory; fresh graduates with right and positive attitude are acceptable as training will be provided

Good personality, independent and a good team player

Chinese language proficiency will be an advantage
