Job summary

Desa Southern Agency Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a proactive Sales Merchandiser to ensure product availability, visibility, and promotional execution across assigned retail outlets. You will support sales growth through effective product placement and in-store operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring stock levels, maintaining planograms, installing POS materials, coordinating with stores, and building strong relationships with outlet personnel to drive performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM/Certificate/Diploma in Sales, Marketing, or related field.
• Experience in merchandising, FMCG, retail sales, or in-store operations is advantageous.
• Strong attention to product placement and stock levels.

Responsibilities

• Execute sales and merchandising plans to support monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales performance against targets.
• Support sell-in and sell-out targets for Key Accounts and Non-Key Accounts.
• Support the sales team in improving product availability, visibility and sales performance.
• Ensure proper product placement according to planograms and brand guidelines.
• Maintain clean, attractive and well-organised shelves and product displays.
• Install and maintain POS materials, promotional signage and secondary displays.
• Ensure products are properly displayed and presented according to company standards.
• Monitor product expiry dates and remove damaged or expired products.
• Ensure proper implementation of FIFO practices.
• Identify opportunities to secure additional shelf space and improve product placement.
• Check stock balance during every outlet visit and communicate replenishment requirements.
• Monitor product availability and identify potential out-of-stock or overstock situations.
• Coordinate with the sales team to support timely product replenishment and delivery.
• Monitor stock expiry on shelves and in store rooms.
• Highlight inventory issues and take appropriate follow-up action with the relevant team.
• Increase product visibility and sales through effective merchandising execution.
• Assist in implementing in-store promotions, product sampling and other sales activities.
• Monitor competitor products, pricing, promotions and merchandising activities.
• Provide feedback on competitor activities and market opportunities to the sales team.
• Support the sales team in maximising product visibility and sales opportunities.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with store managers and outlet personnel.
• Communicate professionally with store personnel and maintain high service standards.
• Negotiate for better product visibility, secondary displays and premium shelf locations where appropriate.
• Address store concerns and coordinate with the relevant team to ensure timely resolution.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports covering stock levels, sales issues, competitor activities and promotional execution.
• Maintain accurate records of outlet visits, merchandising activities and market observations.
• Provide feedback on market insights, customer needs and potential sales opportunities.
• Take and submit documents of merchandising execution and competitor activities during daily outlet visits.
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the immediate superior when required.
