Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a valid nursing registration/licence.
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing; post-basic qualification in Critical Care, Cardiology, Cath Lab, or related.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred/required per hospital policy.
• Relevant clinical nursing experience, preferably in Cath Lab, CCU, ICU, OT, or other acute-care settings.
• Good knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation, emergency management, medication safety, and patient monitoring.
• Strong communication, teamwork, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties.

Cath Lab Staff Nurse / Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Staff Nurse

To provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures. The Cath Lab Nurse is responsible for patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, assisting during procedures, recovery, and post-procedure care while maintaining high standards of patient safety and infection prevention.

Key responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and identify patient needs before, during, and after Cath Lab procedures.

Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including coronary angiography, PCI, and other related procedures.

Verify patient identity, procedure, consent, allergies, investigations, and required pre-procedure preparation.

Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall clinical condition throughout the procedure.

Assist the cardiologist and Cath Lab team during procedures according to competency and scope of practice.

Administer medications, contrast agents, and other prescribed treatments safely, including monitoring for adverse reactions.

Maintain and monitor intravenous access and ensure appropriate preparation of emergency medications and equipment.

Recognize and respond promptly to complications such as arrhythmias, hypotension, bleeding, allergic reactions, cardiac arrest, and other emergencies.

Provide post-procedure monitoring, including vascular access-site assessment, bleeding surveillance, neurological observations, and pain management.

Ensure safe transfer and handover of patients to the appropriate ward, ICU, recovery area, or other clinical unit.

About you

Registered Nurse with a valid nursing registration/licence.

Diploma or Degree in Nursing; post-basic qualification in Critical Care, Cardiology, Cath Lab, or a related specialty is an advantage.

Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is preferred/required according to hospital policy.

Relevant clinical nursing experience, preferably in Cath Lab, CCU, ICU, OT, or other acute-care settings.

Good knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation, emergency management, medication safety, and patient monitoring.

Strong communication, teamwork, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.

Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies.
