Job summary

Jaya Grocer, a leading premium supermarket chain in Malaysia, is seeking an Assistant Chief Cashier/Cashier to manage POS operations and cash handling. You will assist in float preparation, ensure accurate daily sales tallies, and prepare cashier reports. You will also train staff and support scheduling to ensure smooth daily operations.

Open to full-time candidates, with Bahasa Malaysia and English skills, and a focus on accuracy, customer service, and teamwork in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be 18 years or older.
• Open for FULL TIME only.
• Minimum 1 year working experience as cashier or fresh graduates with SPM level.
• Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Basic communication and interpersonal skills
• Customer satisfaction oriented
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision
• Attention to detail and good in handling cash and POS system

Responsibilities

• Generate POS IDs for ACC and cashiers when authorized by CC.
• Assist in preparing cash floats and distribute to cashiers; ensure sufficient coins and notes.
• Ensure cashier counters’ sales totals tally with daily reports (Sales Collection, Terminal, etc.).
• Verify cash per daily sales report; hand over as per SOP.
• Compile cashier documents and forward to Stores and Accounts.
• Assist in pre-planning cashier department schedules and ensure adequate manpower.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and refunds/returns/exchanges politely.
• Resolve and document cashier transaction errors before corrections.
• Assist in training subordinates per company standards.
• Ensure cashier workflows and counter tidiness per SOP/Handbook.
• Brief subordinates on sales promos and provide feedback to superiors.
• Perform other general operational duties and ad-hoc tasks.

Job description

Generate POS IDs for the Assistant Chief Cashier (ACC) and cashiers when authorized and verified by the Chief Cashier (CC)

Assist in preparing cash floats and distributing them to all cashiers, ensuring sufficient small notes and loose change (coins) when authorized by the Chief Cashier (CC)

Ensure that each cashier counter's total sales collection (cash, card, and e-wallet) tallies with daily sales and tabulate all relevant cashier reports (Sales Collection report, Terminal Report, TNG sales report, etc.) as per company SOP and verify them with the Chief Cashier (CC)

Ensure that cash is calculated and packed according to the daily sales report, to be verified by the Store Manager/appointed personnel, and handed over as per the schedule according to company SOP

Compile all relevant cashier documents and submit them to the Store Manager for approval before forwarding them to the accounts department

Assist the Chief Cashier (CC) in pre-planning the cashier department's working schedule and ensure that there is sufficient manpower for daily cashier operations.

Be responsible for attending to customer inquiries, handling complaints, providing solutions, and handling alternatives (Refund, Return & Exchange) politely

Be responsible for resolving and verifying all cashier transaction errors (voiding, cancellation, etc.) before authorizing any correction adjustments and properly documenting them

Assist in training all subordinates according to company standards and job training guidelines and follow up on overall performance progress

Ensure that cashier duties and operational workflows are executed as per company SOP/Handbook, such as counter tidiness, staff grooming, greeting, etc

Ensure that all sales, marketing, and promotional activities are briefed to subordinates and provide feedback on relevant issues to superiors

Perform any other duties related to general operational functions and ad-hoc assignments

Job Requirements

Candidate must be 18 y/o and above

Open for FULL TIME only

Minimum 1 years working experience as cashier or a fresh graduates with a minimum SPM level

Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English

Basic communication skills and interpersonal skills

Customer satisfaction oriented

Able to work independently with minimum supervision

Attention to detail and good in handling cash any POS system

Minimum education: SPM and above
