KPJ Healthcare in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a dedicated healthcare assistant to provide basic nursing care and support the surgical unit. You will collaborate with nurses, transport patients, maintain sterile environments, and assist in daily ward activities to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Provide basic nursing carein accordance withestablished standards, work collaboratively with team members, and report any incidents or issues to relevant authorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Providebasicnursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, andobjectivesof the nursing services and the hospital.
Notify the nursing leaders of anysituationsthatimpactthe quality of care.
Obtainunitreport and assignment at the beginning of each shiftand performadditionaltasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
Daily routinein Operation theatre:
Perform thorough cleaning each morning, including sanitizing operating tables, lamps, andothers.
Inspect supplies and gas cylinders to ensure their safety and guarantee well-stockedanesthesiamachine.
Transportpatients from the ward, transporting the patient to the induction room, andassistingthe patient until they are evaluated by an anesthetist.
Transportpatients to the operating room andassistin their safe lifting onto the operating table.
Provide assistance tothe anesthetist, adjust the operating light according to the surgeon's instructions, and consistentlymaintainthe sterility and cleanliness of the operating theatre.
Transportthe patient to the recovery room andassistin their comfort.
Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
Perform cleaning of thefloors, operating tables, walls, and lamps, as well asdisinfectionof the operating theatre (OT) and scrub room after each procedure.
Conduct weekly cleaning of the entire unit tomaintainhigh standardsof cleanliness and hygiene.
Keeps theunit, store,fridgeand its facilities clean and tidy.
Collectpharmacyand surgical supplies frompharmacy andthe store asrequiredtomaintainadequate stock levels for operations.
Answer phone calls and relay messages.
Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
Ensureportable oxygencontinuous supply for emergency needs
Assiststhe trained staff in various aspects:
Carried out ofbasicnursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, transfer, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores themproperly.
Records the daily charges for the items used in theunitand updates the patients’ charges accordingly.
Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely using the correct body mechanics.
Accompanies the consultantor anaesthetistin performing proceduresand involve in all activities in operation theatrein the absence of trained staff.
Daily routine in Central Sterile Supply Services.
Receive and inspect returned sets from wards.
Distribute sterilized sets on an exchange basis.
Clean and dry various instruments.
Inspect the instruments are functional and sets are complete.
Prepare and label sets for sterilization.
Uphold cleanliness in workspaces, including sinks, tables, and trolleys.
Keep the linen store and stock areas tidy and well-organized.
Assistin inventory management for linen and instruments.
Procure necessary solutions, tapes, sutures, and instruments from the store.
Attend meetings held by the service.
Proactive in our own learning and development, and to meet theminimumrequirement of 20 hours of continuing education per year.
Involve orientingnew staffmembers to theunitroutines.
Maintain a record of personal leave and training attendance.
Adhere to the hospital's policies and nursing code of conduct, ensuring patient confidentiality and standard infection control practices are upheld.
Assistthe trained staff in managing the proper storage, condition, and availability of biomedical equipment in the unit,maintaininga sufficient supply of ward stock, andmaintainingaccuraterecords for equipment, medical supplies, and consumable item specimen collections.
Participate in new services,comply with5S activities, patient safety policies, and adherence to ISO, MSQH, JCI, PSG, and NNA, ensurecomplywith patient safety goals, and occupational safety measures.
Adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994, take reasonable care at work, cooperate with employers, wear proper PPE, and follow all safety and health instructions and measures.
Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.
Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage.
Able to converse fluently and write in English language and Bahasa Malaysia.
Haveinterpersonal and communication skills.
Caring, honest, and responsible worker.
Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shifts and weekends, public holidays and any time called during an emergency.
