Job summary

VAT GROUP, based in Batu Kawan, Malaysia, is seeking a Capacity Planner to manage capacity planning with external suppliers and support S&OP initiatives. The role requires coordinating resource planning, data consolidation, and scenario planning to ensure alignment with markets and key accounts.

The position focuses on improving planning processes, identifying capacity constraints, and driving proactive actions across cross-functional teams and supplier networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management, International Business or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in planning of customer forecast, market intelligence and/or S&OP process
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Good analytical problem solving ability
  • Data mgmt. skills beneficial; advanced analytics
  • English language required; German beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, manage and improve capacity planning process across external suppliers.
  • Coordinate x-tier actions to handle ramp up/down scenarios.
  • Analyze forecasts and FC accuracy; identify deviations and root causes.
  • Identify clusters/patterns to optimize capacity planning strategy.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support customer demand.
  • Communicate with external suppliers for relevant changes to FC.
  • Coordinate implementation of planning strategies with counterparts.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure forecast fulfillment and flexibility.
  • Participate as an operations team member in cross-functional decisions

The Capacity Planner is responsible to manage all aspects of Capacity planning focusing on external suppliers. This includes getting, consolidating and completing all relevant capacity data from suppliers and processing it (eg: software solution (to be installed)) enabling: creating the basis for S&OP (committed output, identify excess/lack of capacity in order to trigger mitigating actions) resource planning (mid to long term, machines and staff) with external suppliers scenario planning enabling proactively identifying potential challenges

Your Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
  • Develop, implement, manage and improve capacity planning process incorporating all relevant external suppliers across X-tier levels identifying the individual constraints (eg: resources, sub components, etc) and providing transparency about excess/lack of capacities within the planning horizon and beyond
  • Orchestrating X-tier actions in order to handle ramp up/down scenarios of overall/individual markets or key accounts
  • Performs analysis on: forecast on component and supplier/resource level in order to indicate major developments and proactively identifies potentially impacted business (volume/BU/customer/region) in order to provide the relevant basis for S&OP meetings and decisions A
  • Actual demand and forecasted demand (FC accuracy on MRP result), investigates on major deviations identifying and solving root causes
  • Identifying clusters/patterns in order to optimize capacity planning/strategy
  • Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best strategy to support customer demand
  • Communicate with external suppliers if needed for coordination & clarification in terms of relevant changes of FC
  • Trigger/coordinate implementation and change of planning strategies supporting relevant counterparts (eg.: PLSCM, Category mgmt., production and materials scheduling, etc.)
  • Coordinate and work with the relevant external counterparts (suppliers) as well as internal (cross-functional) departments to ensure and optimize fulfillment of forecasted volumes and required flexibility
  • Participates as a member of operations team making cross-functional operational decisions
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management, International Business or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in planning of customer forecast, market intelligence and/or S&OP process
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills
  • Good analytical problem solving ability
  • Data mgmt. skills beneficial:

  • Languages: English language (German is beneficial)
