Job summary

Medtronic is expanding in Malaysia and seeks an engineer to perform calibration, maintenance, and testing for laboratory and manufacturing equipment. You will set up tests, record results, and help optimize processes for reliable medical device production.

The role requires a technical degree, 2–3 years in manufacturing (medical devices preferred), Minitab proficiency, Lean Six Sigma experience, and fluency in English and Malay. Travel internationally for training is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Biomedical, Electrical/Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical, Materials or Chemical Engineering)
• 2-3 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in medical devices or regulated industries
• Proficient with Minitab for data analysis and SPC implementation
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement
• Fluent in English and Malay
• Willing to travel internationally for extended periods (2–6+ months)

Responsibilities

• Performs precise calibrations and preventive/corrective maintenance on measuring and test equipment and data analysis systems
• Sets up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of equipment
• Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs circuits and instrumentation for lab and manufacturing equipment
• Develops calibration procedures, logs, and documentation; may prepare technical reports with recommendations
• Selects, maintains, procures instrument spare parts to minimize downtime
• Analyses results and may develop test specs and electrical schematics
• Coordinates calibration with outside contractors for equipment not maintained internally

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Performs precise calibrations and preventive and corrective maintenance on measuring and test equipment, systems, instruments, tools, gauges and fixtures and the calibration and validation of test and data analysis equipment, and systems used for clinical research, trials and product testing.
• Sets up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of mechanical structural or electromechanical equipment.
• Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment and instrumentation for laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
• Develops calibration operating procedures, logs, protocols and/or documentation for instruments and may prepare technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems.
• Selects, specifies, maintain and/or procures instrument spare parts and purchase of components to minimize machine downtime.
• Analyzes results and may develop test specifications and electrical schematics.
• Coordinates calibration with outside contractors for equipment that cannot be maintained internally.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required in technical fields such as Biomedical, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices or other regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience using Minitab for data analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation.
• Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology and continuous improvement programs.
• Strong written and verbal proficiency in English and Malay.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally for extended periods, typically ranging from 2 to 6 months or longer, depending on on-the-job training needs.
