Job summary

UCT in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Buyer III to plan, source, purchase, and expediting materials from local and international suppliers. You will ensure on-time delivery while negotiating pricing and terms to support inventory availability and quality management.

This role requires strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, experience in manufacturing, and familiarity with MRP systems. Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics, mechatronics or industrial systems engineering is

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience with a Diploma.
• Knowledge of MRP systems is advantageous.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, source, purchase and expedite materials from approved local and international vendors.
• Ensure on-time delivery and quality requirements.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
• Maintain supplier scorecards and monitor performance.
• Support inventory control and cost-reduction initiatives.

Buyer is responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing, and expediting materials and commodities from approved local and international suppliers. Ensures timely delivery and compliance with quality requirements while negotiating pricing and commercial terms. Executes cost-reduction initiatives, manages supplier performance through scorecards, and supports objectives related to inventory control, cost savings, material availability and quality management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning, buying, sourcing and expediting materials, commodities from approved vendor lists both locally and overseas.
• Ensure on-time delivery of materials from suppliers and meeting quality requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms with local and overseas suppliers.
• Maintain and execute supplier's scorecard programs.
• Work towards achieving given objectives such as inventory management, cost reduction, materials availability and quality management.
• Other duties as required.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics /Mechatronics/Industrial Systems Engineering.

Experience Requirement:

• At least 5 years working experience for bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical or equivalent.
• At least 8 years working experience for Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical or equivalent.
• Knowledge of MRP system will be advantageous.
• Able to perform in fast paced environment; Preferably experience from manufacturing environment.
• Possess good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
