Job summary

Flex is seeking a Buyer Direct in Batu Kawan, Penang to coordinate the procurement of direct materials, components and equipment for production, ensuring alignment with production plans and quality standards. You will actively manage supplier relations, place, adjust and reschedule purchase orders, track shipments, and maintain accurate records to support manufacturing efficiency and on-time delivery.

• Experience with supplier relations and MRPls desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining relations with suppliers.
• Placing orders for raw materials and purchased parts according to production requirements.
• Receiving and handling confirmations.
• Checking purchase orders and adjusting them to production plan changes.
• Tracking shipments and following up as needed.
• Regularly checking stock to avoid overstocking.
• Minimizing obsolescence through weekly reports.
• Communicating with freight forwarders and warehouses; organizing transport.
• Handling claims and financial settlements.
• Filing and recording procurement documents.
• Ensuring inventory of critical materials aligns with Shortage List.
• Coordinating with warehouse for discrepancies.
• Ensuring data privacy in purchasing.
• Ensuring active components meet production needs at agreed prices.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Buyer Direct located in Batu Kawan, Penang.

This role will be coordinating activities involved with procuring direct materials, components and equipment.

What a typical day looks like:

• Maintaining relations with the suppliers.
• Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
• Receiving and handling the confirmations.
• Checking the purchase orders and modifying them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
• Tracking shipments, urging them if needed.
• Regular, weekly check of the stocks, avoiding overstock.
• Minimizing the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
• Correspondence with the freight forwarders, warehouses, and in case organizing the transportation.
• Dealing with claims, settling debit and credit issues.
• Filing and recording all necessary documents.
• Checking the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List.
• Getting in touch with the right warehouse personnel and having the discrepancy modified if there is any inventory discrepancies.
• Handling purchasing data privacy.
• Assuring all active components according to production needs, in time, for the accord price in the request.
• Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
• Orders, reschedules and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
• Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery and inventories.
• Manages supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
• Approves invoices for payment.
• Investigation inventory levels.
• Monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
• Conducts quarterly supplier reviews.
• Maintains procurement records, reports and metrics.
