Job summary

City University Malaysia is seeking a seasoned Finance/Bursary Manager to oversee the university's financial operations, student billing, payment collection and reporting. The role emphasizes strong internal controls and regulatory compliance.

You will lead the Bursary/Finance team, liaise with students, parents, departments and external partners, and contribute to budgeting, audits and financial planning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance/bursary experience, preferably within higher education.
• Strong knowledge of student billing, fee collection, financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Good leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work with students, staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Bursary/Finance Department, including student payment, billing, collections, refunds and payment matters.
• Oversee student account management and ensure accurate and timely fee collection.
• Prepare and monitor financial reports, budgets, cash flow and financial reconciliations.
• Ensure proper internal controls, financial procedures and compliance with relevant regulations and university policies.
• Liaise with students, parents, academic departments, management, banks and external parties on financial matters.
• Monitor outstanding payment and develop effective follow-up and collection processes.
• Support annual budgeting, audits and financial planning.
• Lead, supervise and develop the Bursary/Finance team.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and service efficiency.
