Job summary

Kerry Malaysia in Pasir Gudang seeks a skilled Boilerman to operate and maintain steam boilers, ensuring safe, efficient plant operations. Reporting to the Utility Lead, you will perform inspections, water treatment, and energy optimization while upholding GMP and safety standards.

You will collaborate with maintenance and production teams, perform preventive maintenance on utility equipment, and drive continuous improvement projects to support reliable steam supply and overall site performance.

Qualifications

  • Steam Boiler Operator GRADE 1 certificate of competency (DOSH).
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven experience in boiler maintenance and operations.
  • Prior exposure to the process industry, with willingness to work on shift schedules.
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, remain resourceful, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Conduct routine inspection of boiler systems, steam lines, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor boiler water quality and perform water treatment activities as required.
  • Carry out boiler blowdown activities according to operating procedures.
  • Record and maintain accurate boiler operating parameters, log sheets, and utility consumption data.
  • Troubleshoot and report any abnormal conditions or equipment failures.
  • Perform first-line maintenance and coordinate with maintenance personnel for major repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with boiler regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and optimize boiler efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the boiler house and utility areas.
  • Operate and monitor utility equipment including air compressors, air dryers, cooling towers, chillers, water pumps, and water treatment systems.
  • Conduct routine checks on utility equipment to ensure continuous and reliable operation.
  • Monitor utility parameters and equipment performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on utility equipment as assigned.
  • Respond to utility breakdowns and support troubleshooting activities.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted utility supply.
  • Ensure all utility equipment operates within design and safety limits.
  • Report utility consumption, abnormalities, and maintenance requirements to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency response activities.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Act as a Safety Coordinator, supporting safety and GMP compliance (if required).
  • Promote and practice 5S workplace culture.
  • Participate actively in plant safety and food safety initiatives.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HACCP, and GMP systems.

About the role

The Boilerman will support the goals and programs established by the management team to continually improve the plant maintenance as well as plant improvement.

Key responsibilities
BOILER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
