Job Purpose
The Daycare Assistant is responsible to support primary-aged children (ages 4-12) in an after-school care setting. The ideal candidate will assist with homework, offer bilingual language support in English and Bahasa Melayu (Mandarin proficiency is a plus), and lead engaging enrichment activities that promote both academic growth and personal development. This role requires a nurturing presence and a strong commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and guide children during after-school hours.
Provide homework support for all subjects mainly in English and second language (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia).
Plan and lead engaging enrichment activities such as Reading, STEAM, Smart Mind (HOTS), Leadership Skills or Character-building.
Promote positive behaviours and social development.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
Support children emotional and academic needs with care and patience.
Communicate clearly with parents regarding children progress and well-being.
Assist with hygiene routines, meals, and transitions between activities.
Attend training, meetings, and contribute to school events as required.
Comply with all school's policies, licensing regulations, and health & safety standards.
Job and Person Specification: -
Essential Specification (Must-have)
Minimum SPM/STPM; Diploma or Degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
Ability to communicate and teach effectively in English and either Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia
Previous experience working with primary school children is an advantage.
Passionate on education and child development.
Responsible, patient, and a good team player.
First aid and CPR certification is an added benefit.mRelevant teaching certification (eg CICTL, DICTL, PGCE).
