Job summary

Maybank Islamic is seeking a technology leader to drive the BaaS platform strategy and architecture in line with Group standards. You will oversee delivery across BaaS components, coordinate with vendors, and ensure secure, compliant cloud operations.

Ideal candidates have senior engineering leadership experience, strong cloud and security expertise, and a track record of delivering scalable financial services platforms in agile environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; experience in technology delivery or engineering leadership.
• Strong hands-on understanding of cloud platforms (preferably AWS), cloud architecture, microservices, API architectures, and integration frameworks.
• Experience leading engineering teams, delivering in agile models, balancing technical depth with business priorities.

Job description

• Lead BaaS platform technology strategy and architecture by defining the technology strategy and roadmap, ensuring architecture aligns with Group Technology and enterprise standards, and acting as the design authority for BaaS solutions.
• Oversee engineering delivery across all BaaS components by managing development squads and vendors, monitoring sprint progress, unblocking delivery, and ensuring high-quality engineering practices.
• Govern cloud, security, and compliance requirements by leading cloud security reviews, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity, data residency, outsourcing, and regulatory rules, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
• Maintain operational stability and platform resilience by leading SRE and monitoring standards, handling incident escalation and root cause analysis, and optimizing performance, uptime, and reliability.
• Manage vendors and external technical partners by coordinating with Audax, AWS, and other third parties, reviewing deliverables and technical quality, and negotiating and enforcing SLAs and engineering standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation by implementing automation, DevSecOps, and tooling enhancements, promoting reusable engineering patterns, and conducting technical capability uplift for teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, with experience in technology delivery, engineering leadership, or solution architecture, including Technology Lead or Engineering and Delivery roles.
• Strong hands‑on understanding of cloud platforms (preferably AWS), cloud architecture, infrastructure, microservices, API architectures, middleware, API gateways, API orchestration, and integration frameworks.
• Familiarity with regulatory and security frameworks in financial services, including SSL, JWT, OAuth, SAML, cryptographic standards, threat protection models, identity management, KMS/HSM, and secure key handling.
• Experience leading engineering teams across agile delivery models, maintaining high-quality engineering practices, and balancing technical depth with business priorities under tight timelines.
• Hands‑on experience with DevSecOps tools, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, automation pipelines, and promoting reusable engineering patterns.
• Understanding of core banking, payments, onboarding, and financial services technology domains, experience working with vendor engineering teams and SaaS/PaaS delivery models, and strong grounding in system design, performance engineering, and scalability patterns.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder‑management skills, strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities, and capable of leading technical discussions with regulators and external partners.
