Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development or software engineering experience.

Job description

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our internal engineering team. You will design, develop, maintain, and improve backend applications and APIs that support production systems, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, performance, and security. This is a hands on engineering role involving API development, relational databases, payment gateway integrations, testing, deployment support, and production troubleshooting. You will collaborate with other engineers to deliver features, maintain existing services, and improve our backend architecture over time.

Our backend systems primarily use Python (including Flask) and PHP/Laravel. Candidates with experience in other backend languages or frameworks are welcome, provided they have strong fundamentals and are willing to learn our technology stack.

Key responsibilities

Backend development: Build, maintain, and improve backend applications, services, and RESTful APIs for existing products and new features.

System design: Contribute to API design, service architecture, and technical decisions with an emphasis on readable, maintainable, and reliable solutions.

Database development: Design and maintain relational database schemas, queries, and migrations; investigate and improve query performance when needed.

Integrations: Develop and troubleshoot integrations between internal services and third-party APIs, including error handling and data consistency.

Payment systems: Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot payment gateway integrations, including cryptocurrency-based payment processing, transaction status tracking, retries, and reconciliation.

Transaction integrity: Help ensure reliable and secure processing of financial transactions through appropriate validation, idempotency, auditability, and error recovery.

Production troubleshooting: Investigate application errors, performance issues, and unexpected behavior using logs, debugging tools, and systematic root-cause analysis.

Code quality and testing: Write clear, maintainable, documented code; participate in code reviews and add appropriate unit or integration tests.

Deployment collaboration: Work with infrastructure engineers to deploy and maintain backend services in cloud-based and containerized environments.

Performance and reliability: Identify bottlenecks and improve API efficiency, scalability, fault handling, and system reliability.

About you

3+ years of backend development or software engineering experience preferred. Candidates with strong backend fundamentals and demonstrable practical ability are also encouraged to apply.
