Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Volkswagen vehicles, including oil changes and tire rotations.
• Conduct detailed diagnostics on engine, electrical, and HVAC systems using VW tools.
• Identify issues from complaints and diagnostics; repair or replace faulty components.

Job description

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Volkswagen vehicles, including oil changes, brake repairs, tire rotations, battery replacements, and more.


• Conduct detailed diagnostics on vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, and HVAC, using Volkswagen’s diagnostic tools and software.


• Identify vehicle issues based on customer complaints, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and visual inspections.


• Repair or replace faulty components, such as engines, transmission systems, suspension systems, and electrical components, ensuring compliance with Volkswagen’s service standards.

Routine Maintenance and Service

• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, such as fluid checks, tire rotations, air filter replacements, and multi-point vehicle inspections.


• Ensure all work is performed to Volkswagen's exact specifications and guidelines.


• Document maintenance and repair tasks, including parts used, time spent, and labor performed, in the service management system.

Quality Control and Safety

• Adhere to all safety protocols, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.


• Inspect completed repairs and services to ensure they meet Volkswagen’s quality standards before returning the vehicle to the customer.


• Ensure that all work is performed accurately the first time to minimize the need for rework.


• Report any safety concerns, issues with tools or equipment, and potential defects to the Service Manager.

Customer Communication and Satisfaction

• Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle issues, repairs, and maintenance needs.


• Explain repairs and maintenance performed to customers, addressing any concerns and ensuring understanding of the work done.


• Provide recommendations to customers for additional services or preventive maintenance based on vehicle condition.

Technical Support and Continuous Learning

• Stay up to date with Volkswagen’s latest vehicle technologies, technical specifications, and service bulletins.


• Participate in training programs, including factory training and certification courses, to improve skills and knowledge of Volkswagen systems.

Internal

• Work with colleagues and managers to resolve complex repair issues, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Inventory and Parts Management

• Ensure that the correct parts and tools are used for repairs and that parts are ordered in a timely manner.


• Help maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies used in daily operations.


• Assist in returning unused parts, and ensure parts are properly invoiced and documented.

JOB COMPETENCIES

Education and Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical training or certification in automotive repair (preferred).


• Certification in automotive service (e.g., ASE or equivalent) is a plus.


• Volkswagen-specific training or certification (preferred).

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an automotive technician or mechanic, preferably with Volkswagen or other premium automotive brands.


• Experience with diagnostic tools and software, and the ability to perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on modern vehicle systems.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including mechanical, electrical, and digital components.


• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, scanners, and repair manuals specific to Volkswagen vehicles.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot vehicle issues.

• Strong attention to detail, ensuring all repairs and services meet Volkswagen’s high standards.


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with service advisors, other technicians, and management.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work in a workshop environment, with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and occasionally, fumes or chemicals.


• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the workshop for extended periods.


• Occasional lifting of parts or materials (up to 50 lbs).


• Ability to work in confined spaces and in different positions (e.g., bending, kneeling, lying down) as required for repairs.
